Imagine still trying to pander to the same people who do THIS to you....
Ok, I'm sorry. It's a little thing. But I can't get over the flip-flopping.

What do Republicans really think about Russia? We have the Hammer and Sickle there as an insult. Great. Fine. But we also have stuff like this.

Where the Right Extremists are literally yelling that Russia is their friend. If public sentiment is to be believed, Putin is still trending more favorably than I am comfortable with in the Republican mindset.

So is calling Pence a traitor with Russian iconography oxymoronic? It feels that way.

Oh no, that means...

er, what does that mean, exactly? It'd be far more worrisome if Republicans were expressing support for Ukrainian fascists. But also of little direct consequence, probably.
I'm pretty sure you're looking for a gotcha moment. But like I just said, I don't get the inconsistency of trying to use Russia as an insult, but simultaneously still liking Russia.

It's literally almost every part of my quote that you just edited out. What is the point of that? Literally the very next sentence was questioning if calling Pence a traitor by using iconography of someone you supposedly revere oxymoronic.

A regressive, authoritarian dictatorship such as Russia under Putin is only really one step removed from actual fascism. Don't let facts get in the way of your black & white, USA bad & anyone-anti-USA good views of geopolitics though.

For someone who loves to denounce liberals for siding with the extreme right over the "true" left, you sure tend to carry a lot of water for the extreme right...

Well part of it is the Soviet Union isn't Russia, and modern Russia is a far cry from the Soviet Union.

So funny.

Edit: Fine I will give a summary; Candace makes fun of Meghan McCain for being overweight and implies Covid only affects overweight people. Turns out republicans are overweight vs Dems.

The above article disproves republicans being obese too somewhat.

Plainly, no. If you think that about fascism, then you're insufficiently acquainted with history.

Running elections is primarily county-level, though that does vary slightly state to state. The opening, closing, and staffing of polling places is Georgia is done on the county level, with the state being relatively hands off in that process.
So, ignoring the article about Texas suing a county over it?
Closing polling places doesn't necessarily make voting harder. Polling places need to close, open, and move as the population move about. Resources are wasted keeping open spots that have depopulated, and those resources could be used to speed up the voting process in other places.
So, completely ignoring the multiple articles where it's happening in heavily populated *and growing* areas leading to 6-8 hour delays?
It doesn't. I have fun here.
Liars tend to do that

You mean Texas made a county close outdoor, drive-through polls that violated state law as written, because polling places are defined as "buildings"? Would you prefer to leave them open and then have everyone's votes thrown out when someone successfully sues afterwards? Ok.

Like, your articles are left wing nonsense. "Hey look, Texas closed a bunch of polling places." They're also expanding early voting and implementing countywide election programs where people can vote at any precinct in their county. It wouldn't make sense to leave them all in place exactly the same.

Hey, hey, look at this:

California shut down a ton of polling places! They must be trying to... reallocate resources and allow counties to operate fewer spaces for longer hours. But boy, would it be easy for me to chop out the context and pretend it's voter suppression.

Except votes weren't tossed out for that reason in past elections. And in 2020, when Texas drive-thru polling stations were challenged in court, the challenge was thrown out and the drive-thru stations remained legal.

Oook... but neither of those elements properly compensate for closures.

If you can vote at any precinct, but your nearest several precincts have closed, it's still materially more difficult for you to vote. It involves significantly more travel and time investment. It doesn't matter that you've now got a wider choice... of polling spots that are all much further away from the 1 you could use before. And what do you know: the closures were concentrated more heavily in minority areas, even those that were growing in population.

And we're not talking about "leaving them all". The rate of closure was enormous, between 40 to 60% in some counties.

When you have something like this, look to local entities for what's actually going on:

A left-leaning, questionably factual, British publication found a way to make statistics on Texas voting look bad. You gotta do better.

Yeah, so we're talking about the same people who take BLM as meaning Muslim Terrorists who want to bring down America, CRT as reprogramming children to hate white people, and Gender nomenclature as a personal assault to their ideals.

Just as much as the Confederate Flag is apart of American Iconography, the Hammer and Sickle will inexorably tied to Russia's history (as it was apart of the Soviet Union that Russia was born from) and therefore future. I'm very sure they were sitting there checking that their usage of the hammer and sickle wouldn't be tied to the ideas of Russia's past.

Because they are so very caring about proper representation.

Is it though? Is modern Russia really so far removed from the Soviet Union? The key difference is that modern Russia doesn't have communistic economic policies but in all other areas modern Russia seems to mostly be a direct continuation of the Soviet Union.

There seem to be more political prisoners under Putin then there were under the later Soviet leaders and we know that prisoners in Russia get extensively tortured. So in the sense of the state terrorizing the citizenry modern Russia doesn't seem like a far cry from the Soviet Union. Aside from some smoke and mirrors modern Russia is effectively a one party state and its open season on the independent press. So as far as democratic rights and free media is concerned modern Russia doesn't seem as much of a far cry from the Soviet Union. Ideologically both regimes also identify themselves as being caught up in a death battle against the west, and both the Soviets and Putin believe that Russia either owns or should own eastern Europe.

Putin lacks the insanity and megalomania of Stalin but aside from economic policies he's more or less the same as the Soviets leaders after Stalin. Perhaps even a tad worse than the later ones.

That's a whole lot of gibberish. I just don't understand the point you were trying to make because it seems obvious to me and because of all the things they are inconsistent about, this is not one of them. The hammer and sickle isn't a Russian symbol, it's a Soviet symbol. Specifically it's a leftist symbol and is associated with socialism, the coming together of farm workers and factory workers in the class struggle. I doubt they understand that, but they do understand that it's a "Communist symbol", so they're at least doing better than you. They're tarring Pence with links to Communism, not that he's Russian. They like modern Russia because it's not "Communist", and instead run by an authoritarian right-wing shithead, which is all they want. They are being consistent here; Communism bad, authoritarian right good. Your comment just makes you look like a Simpson's skit.

That is literally the point here for why they use the hammer and sickle as an insult while praising Russia and it not being inconsistent. And the economic policy is what defines the Soviet Union compared to both it's descendant and it's antecedent. Quit being a Simpson's reference.
