I played it a long time ago on emulator. It's an interesting game for sure and I'm looking forward to seeing what improvements they made. I love the fact they're using the Octopath art style. The original was made for the SNES(well, Super Famnicom) so keep 1990's 16 bit JRPGs in mind for expectations on how it plays and you should be fine.

It's really interesting. It's a bunch of short story across all kind of setting, all built using the same combat system but they play really differently. Because they're short story the dev can take some really big risk storytelling wise and I think it really pays off in one of the scenario.
These announcement are really nice, good on SE for digging up some of their old classic, chrono cross is worth playing for the OST alone, Front mission one and two are good (wonder if we'll get the extra content for FM1 DS version) although not quite as good as some later entries (1 suffer from way too many units). Now fucking do final fantasy tactics!
edit: Just realize, but best news about this is that no matter what, front mission evolved and left alive won't be the last entry in the front mission franchise!

Yeh, aside from just being good fun platformers, it'll not doubt be the most affordable way to play them. Cuz Klonoa 2 is not too bad, but the Wii version of 1 is pretty pricey, and let's just not talk about the PS1 og.
I think you can still download the original on PS3 though. I still have it on my system.
