So apparently Haikyuu will be ending it's anime series with two movies instead of, I don't know, two or three seasons.

Really not a fan of this. Of this trend of anime shows getting canon movies in general. They might be amazingly animated, but I have yet to watch one that made me feel like it NEEDED to be a movie. They say there's 110 chapters of the manga left, really can't see that fitting into two movies satisfactorily.
Yeah, I'm not watching made in abyss current season since I haven't watched the movie. I would also have much prefered a new season of laid back camp than a movie (although this one is at least doesn't stop an S3 since its after a large time skip).

Watched the first part of Gundam Thunderbolt last night. Beautiful animation, devastating depiction of war, and fucking hell everybody is just off their goddamned rocker.

9/10, interested to see where it goes, Psycho Zaku is best girl. I think my favorite bit was that the Gundam was framed and shot like a horror movie monster. Also, been a while since I saw a mecha show where the mecha were explicitly machines

Awkwardly enough the second part end on mid arc, no idea if they plan on do more, but since its been 5 years probably not. But yeah, probably best gundam show, I would like a bit less of the "edgy" side but its all worth it for those fight (no CG!).

Im 5 episodes in and Im starting to see why I haven't heard a lot of chatter online about Harley Quinn S3. This season just feels like a step down. I think the inherent flaw in this show is that, in a vacuum, its just not that funny or clever. The first couple seasons smartly had an actual plot. Some kind of object story momentum to hang the quips and gags off of. Especially the first season being focused on Harley trying to reach super villain status. That was fun.

The grip of Harley Quinn as a series has been the gags and deconstruction of established characters. Batman being a bit less reverential, Gordon being a drunken loser, King shark being adorably warm-hearted, Bane being utterly ridiculous, etc. You do a plot and then you make people laugh at the references and digs at DC proper.

This season sees all that sorted out. Harley and Poison Ivy are a couple. Thats it. Thats whole plot. Theres a kind of plot a couple episodes in where Ivy is so bored that Harley convinces her to do "plants take over the world" terrorist scheme, but neither character is fully invested in it. Its not "happening" in each episode. Its more a sitcom in format.

Most of the season so far sees Harley literally do nothing but irritate and cause problems for Ivy, not even dramatically. I mean get in her way, eat chips too loud, break lab stuff. Ivy makes a hard right turn as a character I dont really recognize. In the first season Ivy is a respected supervillain with her own life who grudgingly helps Harley with her schemes. This season sees Ivy suddenly lose all agency and become codependent on Harley, toxically. Literally mirroring Harleys origin with the Joker.

I keep watching because I keep thinking a reckoning will be becoming where shes gets tired of Harleys shit, but I suspect the writers think this is working fine the way it is and dont see the irony.

However, with new WB management going scorched earth atm I think its more likely this is the last season. I hope it at least ends on a high note.

Damn, I watched the first season and my two favorite thing about it was Harley and Ivy friendship and Kite man x Ivy subplot. And in one feel swoop they removed both aspect...

Is Nightwing at least funny enough? The few clips I saw were delightfully stupid.

Well kinda. So Nightwing comes back to gotham and theres a kind of cute mini episode where hes mad because Bruce replaced him with Barbara and Damian. They have a mission where they mess up and they learn how to be a team. Couple chuckles, but nothing outrageous. I kinda forgot all about it because it doesn't have anything to do with HQ and Nightwing hasn't shown up since. Theres no gags or anything, it would fit just fine in a regular DCAU show. its idk 5-10 minutes.

I can be quite contrary in my opinions so I dont wanna tell people its shit and just avoid it (Thats my opinion on JWD), but if I tried to put my feelings in a box, Id say it feels like the first two seasons they had a clear idea of what the show was about. Some penultimate climax its heading towards. This season I dont have any sense that its going anywhere and it feels like that fear is manifesting on screen, the fear that a show just about Harley Quinn would get tiresome.

Exciting and thrilling episode, but....

It had nothing to do with episodes 3 and 4, other than certain thematics that man can never put away their hidden savage.
Not the first time Genddy made something that had nothing to do with the setting.

Dexter's Lab had episodes that have nothing to do with Dexter or his family.

Like Monkey (Dexter is only a minor roll), and The Justice Friends.

There's a difference: It happened more than once, and was a gag. Second, Monkey or the Justice Friends would sometimes (though rarely) get involved in the same episode as Dexter and family. Hell, the Justice Friends show up in PPG, but for some reason are turned in to big(ger) assholes.

Justice League: Dark - I'm on a John Constantine (Hellblazer) kick, and gonna watch the other two animated movies involving him later. Great movies, love the dynamic between Constantine, Batman, Zantanna, Deadman, and Jason Blood/Etrigan. Swamp Thing shows up too.

Especially after the way Episode 4 ended. I was ready for what was coming and then we get... this. Maybe it was them trolling the audience, but in light of the recent Warner/HBO Max uncertainties with shows and movies just getting ripped from the service (Infinity Train is already gone), I was not in the mood for a psych.

Well that's a kick in the balls. I'd have thought there would be a lot do with a Harley and Nightwing pairing (not romantically). They're both constantly in the shadow of their once-partners, they both have had falling outs with their partners, and they both lean toward being silly. I'm a lot less inclined to watch the show now.

Nisemonogatari

I think it's pretty obvious that the writer is a pedophile. Clearly he seems to be under the impression that the sexual harrassment of kids in their mid teens and younger is either sexy, or funny, and I don't know which would reflect worse on him. As someone who has been on the receiving end of sexual harassment in my mid teens, I can assure you that it isn't. The fact that this show went on to off dozens of sequels, prequels and spinoffs after this is both proof that cancel culture doesn't actually exist, and that it probably should.

Never seen the show, but I did know it was on HBO MAX. Why rip it? It's a Cartoon Network show. Did several CN shows get axed from HMX as well?
HBO Max is weird over where I live - For example, we got Adventure Time, but several episodes are missing.

Also, watch Infinity Train. Season 1 is good, season 2 is really good, and season 3 is fucking crazy good.

Ever watched Made in Abyss? Fucking oof! The child nudity and, maybe even worse, child anguish/guro fetish is off the charts. Japan weirdly gets a free pass from this stuff not just inside of the country but outside as well.

I'll double check my in, but I checked it just earlier last weekend, and Infinity Train was still there. I'll have to do it after work.

Wait, did the show actually make a Western or stateside release? So apparently this and Elfen Lied got a free pass, but Interspecies Reviewers didn't?

The first season did, I don't know about the second one. I think there was a movie as well. Anyway, I saw some clips on youtube of Season 2 and... yeah, it's kinda even worse than the first one. Lotta weird overly cute (sometimes half monster) children suffering physical agony which doesn't seem framed in as off-putting a way as it probably should. Again, feels very fetishistic.

So torture porn in animated form. No thank you.
