Lol at Stray winning the indie categories. I haven't even played any of the other contenders and am still confident they're all better games.

As for the announcements, aka the only thing of note, nope for everything. Except Armored Core, Hades, Earthblade, maybe Space Marine 2. They go on the "maybe" pile.
Yeah. Tunic would have been far more appropriate.

So I'm watching the Escapist stream of the awards now but I just glanced at the winners and it seems I was pretty much wrong about everything, lol. Oh well.

My only awards reaction right now is that I'm happy for Chris Judge and of course he did a great job but I just think grunty gruff tough guy is boring and that Plague Tale and Immortality turned in much more interesting performances. I also think people are too harsh on Aloy though I wouldn't give it an award for the same reason I wouldn't give it to Kratos.

Hades 2? Ok, that's nice. I liked Hades but I also have to accept that I can't handle rogueli*es any more so, y'all enjoy that one.

I wanna get super fucking hype, but 5 was awful
Armored Core 5 is probably my fave in the series. Maaaybe slightly bumped out by 4, but not by much.
Ahh, the duality of man.
...
ARMORED CORE HYPE YEEEEEEEEEEE-

Actually deserving: Neon White. Truly a brilliant game and the most innovative, interesting and rewarding game of the year IMO.
Hot damn this game has been fun. I'm in what I think is the 2nd last area of the game and it's still throwing crazy and cool shit at me. Though there has been a self inflicted level of frustration cause I'm trying to get Red Medals in every stage. Turned what would normally be a reasonably lengthy but still short game to one where I've clocked 55 hours into it. Though, honestly? More than happy to enjoy it that long, this game is great and I'll be sad when it's over

Forced online BS really damage any interest I had in it, but replacing the large variety of level by few large boring one kill it for me.

Anyone else watch Christopher Judge's rambling, incoherent speech and just wonder what prescription drugs and booze he was mixing?
Also wow Space Marine 2, one whole minute of alpha footage subject to change! Guess Christmas came early this year, huh?

Mario Rabbids won an award and that was really the only game I played. I knew Forbidden West was happy to just be there and TMNT Shredders Revenge was upset about it either. I loved the announcements, had me at Hades 2, Space Marine 2, Crime Boss looks like dumb shit that will fill the Saints Row hole in my heart and FromSoftware ***** asses remembered Armored Core exist and Toys for Bob escaped the Cod mines to give us a Moba party game style Crash experience. Oh yeah Final Fantasy 16 showed up.

Look no one in that building has the prereq to remove Chris Judge from the stage I am shocked if that wasn't the whole award time and everything else had to given in a text off to the side.

Huh, I think I only ever played it when I didn't have access to the multiplayer, or at least didn't involve myself in it as often as 4, and I don't remember there being anything in particular that felt like it was missing or forced in doing so. It's been years though and the servers are long since shut down, so maybe I don't really remember how it was.

Now, if we're talking Verdict Day, that's a whole different can of worms

Apparently there was a some sort of promotion going on where they were giving away a free steam deck for every minute a person is thanking for their awards on stage, so it could merely be him and another one later playing for time, as Geoff even nervously referenced that exact detail straight after he thanked Judge while greasing the transition into more adverts.

Maybe they changed it after they shut the server down, but on release a bunch of stuff couldn't be used if you weren't connected online, like the shop would only let you buy one broken part. Was real fun at launch since the server were crap and couldn't handle the traffic so you'd constantly lose connection

Oh, hrm, guess I either forgot about that or never utilized it. Haven't been an online multiplayer person for most of my life so I likely didn't even think about it.
I do remember when I first played it I was likely connected to the online stuff and played as normal. The next time I replayed it was only a couple years ago without any Xbox Live stuff, so I didn't even notice it was missing and played without issue.
Guess this goes to show how wildly different one's experiences with a game can be, especially depending on the time it's played. Though with that in mind, my opinions on the game are based on my most current replay

So what, was he running some scam or something? Prattling on and on while his friends enter the give away?

No, not as far as am aware, though can see how one could interpret it that way from my wording. Is likely just a sneaky way of getting more free gifts to random people cause, you know, it's that time of year, and Judge seems the kinda guy who'd be into such an effortless opportunity for forcing a corporation into more generosity. There was a bit of a concern at the time that bots were taking the winnings, but was allegedly debunked by internet terminology I don't yet understand.

For TGA 2023, I really do hope they improve security more. IDK, how about having someone actually see who's coming to the stage, or have them open or close one of those line cut-off for actual people coming up to the stage?

I didn’t see much of anything myself but does this seem pretty accurate?

Imagine how easy it would’ve been for that kid to do something really not very nice. Like worse than a slap. Talk about a security SNAFU. Would love to see a Crowbcat video someday about the underlying tinge of amateurism this show still exhibits.

But OTOH, a good comment -

I swear the still from that bottom video makes it look like miyazaki is gonna brain him with the award. Honestly I don't think anyone would really be that shocked if he had, merely said "You died" and then casually walked away.

People would be surprised at how easy it is to get into places with nothing but a clipboard and a serious expression.
