I haven't watched the show, but from what I've heard, Velma is the worst thing to happen to the Scooby-Doo franchise since Scrappy-Doo.
At least Scrappy is a jerk with heart of gold and is not a complete asshole. There are Scooby things related worse than Scrappy Doo.I haven't watched the show, but from what I've heard, Velma is the worst thing to happen to the Scooby-Doo franchise since Scrappy-Doo.
Immature, Edge Lord teenagers/adult-children that hate Scooby-Doo or anything "kiddie".Seriously, who the fuck is this for?
As hard as it might be to believe, Scrappy was actually well-received when he first appeared. At least Scrappy is a jerk with heart of gold is not a complete asshole. There are Scooby things related worse than Scrappy Doo.
It's like lampshading if the lampshade was made of month-old bacon.Watched one episode. Holy crap, it's horrible. I rolled my eyes so much, they hit me in the back of the head from having propellered out of my skull and making a full circumference of the planet. Every joke is either dumb edge, crassness and/or cringe, lots of mocking of common tropes and then just doing those tropes. Newsflash, being self-aware is not subversive in and of itself. Every character is an unlikable asshole, which can work fine, but only if combined with humor and wit, which this show has none of. Seriously, who the fuck is this for?
I do remember watching that from beginning to its finale. Granted, it was kinda terrible, but it knew what spin-off meant, focusing just on Shaggy and Scooby while acknowledging the rest of the members were there and even cameoed. I would even go as far as to say I'd rather watch entireity of this again than Velma. It doesn't work as a spin-off nor as its own independent thing. At least Scrappy is a jerk with heart of gold is not a complete asshole. There are Scooby things related worse than Scrappy Doo.
I am aware of all that. The only reason Scrappy gets so much backlash from the fandom is either insecurity or exaggerating the worst qualities about him.As hard as it might be to believe, Scrappy was actually well-received when he first appeared.
And yeah, there are worse Scooby-Doo related things than Scrappy. Scrappy's just an easy target.
I couldn't get past the first two episodes. The show just felt very boring and dry. As far as spin-offs involving Scooby and Shaggy, Ghoul School and the one with the monster themed Wacky Race are so much better. At least those have interesting side characters and monsters, or a unique premise.I do remember watching that from beginning to its finale. Cartoon Network did this, to a limited extent, with the Scooby gang back in the aughts. It was far more celebratory than mean-spirited, though.I don't understand the idea behind taking a beloved children's program and clearly re-making it in a rated R context. Why make an adult version of a kids show?
I find both equally horrible. The only difference is with Kricfalusi, someone could have seen him coming to the logical conclusion of an unhinged and unfiltered Ren & Stimpy. I could not say the same for anything Scooby Doo related.Still, I'm not going to watch this, but I do wonder if it's worse than what John Kricfalusi did to Ren & Stimpy.
I don't even know people hated Scrappy until I started participating in and observing online discussions about him. I was so confused when the first live-action movie depicted him as a villain. As hard as it might be to believe, Scrappy was actually well-received when he first appeared.

Nothing's worse than that, seriously! That was the most pathetic and disgusting display by someone who was already very pathetic and disgusting. Velma is Kaling dumping pigs blood onto the Scooby gang, John K pretty much whored-out Ren And Stimpy for a few measily bucks. So yeah, that bottom remains unsurpassed.Still, I'm not going to watch this, but I do wonder if it's worse than what John Kricfalusi did to Ren & Stimpy.
I kind of was aware of the hatred Scrappy had by that point. If you were a preteen, teenager, or young adult and still a fan of Scooby Doo, most people were at least semi aware of the hate Scrappy got over the years. Even as a kid, I didn't like Scrappy being the villain and I felt it was a pointless take that. Before Velma, it was the most mean spirited Scooby-Doo property out there at the time. The first live-action Scooby-Doo looks like prim roses by comparison.I don't even know people hated Scrappy until I started participating in and observing online discussions about him. I was so confused when the first live-action movie depicted him as a villain.
I didn't like him at all, he's the worst combination of overeager and worthless and getting everyone around him into trouble.I don't even know people hated Scrappy until I started participating in and observing online discussions about him. You can tell the difference based on how quickly those ratings drop.People are blaming the high ratings for Velma on people hate-watching.
I think people underestimate how bad the entertainment taste of the average person is. There’s a reason reality shows are, or at least, used to be, so popular.
Two and a half men went on for what, 8 seasons? and that's nothing compared to The Big Bang Theory.People are blaming the high ratings for Velma on people hate-watching.

There's hate watching, and then there's clearly watching it, but you're afraid to admit that you like the show or certain aspects about the show. And finally, you just have people who genuinely enjoy the show or think it's fine. Two and a half men went on for what, 8 seasons? and that's nothing compared to The Big Bang Theory.
