I wonder what they're going to do with Eve in the show, because in the comic there's something supremely interesting about her that the character is never allowed to explore. The comic kinda has a issue with its two main female characters being mostly defined by their relationship to men, and especially with Debbie I wonder how or if they're going adapt this.

Also, everyone get ready for the most hateable character to make their grand entrance.

Heh... no.

Also, Amber is actually pretty swell in the comic. I feel like in their attempt to make Amber not come across as just a girlfriend - which she was in the comic - the writers made her more assertive. Not that this in itself is an issue, but coupled with how they changed the order of events for the show - the reamimen, Mark going to Mars, the apearance of Battle Beast all happened AFTER Omni-Man left Earth in the comic - it made her seem very unreasonable.

Who is it then? Rex? The guy can be piss ant douche, but at least he stepped up. He still not as annoying as Amber in the TV show. Otherwise, I got no other possibly answers.
They haven't been introduced yet. It's supposed to be a bit of a surprise, probably why the trailer refrained from showing them.

Wait a second, is this a Junji Ito work? I swear this is his brand of Lovecraftian madness.
Yes, it is. Probably his most popular one. This looks like it faithfully replicates his art style, so hopefully it nails his vibe too. Previous adaptations have been lacking.

Finally, some great horror anime. Granted, just some unique or creative anime in general. 2023 and 2024 is going to be hit with some huge heavy hitters. We got this, Pluto, and Metallic Rouge. Then there's that that I medieval fantasy manga @TheMysteriousGX likes getting an adoption as well. The one that involves the food and dungeons. Can't remember the name, but I know Studio Trigger is doing it. Finally some creativity again! Enough with the trapped in another world/Isekai or shonen bullcrap.

I know I already stated this, but RE: Cutey Honey is finally getting a dub. It's supposed to come out later around near the end of next month.

I still can't say it captures that particular Junji Ito vibe. It certainly looks better than the other anime attempts, but the creep factor isn't quite there.
It's probably because they're using the cel shaded 3D look again, except keeping it's in black and white. The creep factor is working for me, but I definitely would have preferred had it just been straight up 2D animation.

I think the unsettling nature of the rotoscoping is what's going to sell it, but that's probably hard to convey in a trailer. The other main problem is that horror just doesn't translate well between page and screen. They get sold in entirely different ways

I think the cel shading could work if they made it look less clean, add some smudge and sketchiness, and maybe tinker with the framerate. But I know effects like that would cost a lot more to produce.
