In your opinion, what is the acceptable time to start playing Christmas music? Before Halloween? After Halloween, but before Thanksgiving? Black Friday? December 1st?

When I become Emperor of the Universe, playing Christmas music in public at any time other than the actual week of Christmas will be a capital offense.
Something like that. I would say even 1.December is too early. Come on, year has 12 month. we can't have nearly 3/4 of that be in service of two and a half days.
Well, some Christians might disagree.
Also: Man, why is Christmas music so... bad. Even the songs of otherwise good musicians? Always so boring, milquetoast, vapid. Hm, now i have to see if i find a good Christmas song... grml.... thanks.
Not sure what qualifies as good in your book, but I personally quite like Elton John's Step Into Christmas on account of it being rather peppy.
The lyrics are a bit corny here and there, but overal vibe of the song is enjoyable.

I'm a tiny bit more lenient than most people on here, it seems. I draw the line at the day after Thanksgiving. It should be noted, I have a sister-in-law who would have a xmas tree up year round if she could get away with it (and I actually do like her despite this serious character flaw).
Like the music, but I can't get over my loathing of the song's lyrics.
I know that songs generally are repetitive in their lyrics, but this song for some reason really grinds my gears.
