The following fast food restaurants don't have real burgers. As the video says, just go to Five Guys if you want a burger basically (or Culvers).

#8: Checkers & Rally's
#7: Wendy's
#6: Carl's Jr. & Hardee's
#5: Burger King
#4: Jack in the Box
#3: White Castle
#2: Sonic Drive-In
#1: McDonald's

Is that US only or globally? I ask because Maccas and Hungry Jacks make a big song and dance about locally sourced beef for their Australian outlets.

Then again the best burgers come from places that look like this:

In fact, the shittier it looks the better it probably is.

I'm guessing US only. Don't chains source different ingredients or just have different suppliers in different countries? So it might not be the same burgers outside the US. Pubs or specific burger places have the best burgers, the only chains I go to for a burger are Five Guys and Culvers.

It's indeed US only, about half the chains mentioned have little or no international presence. And yes, international food and drink companies usually source ingredients locally for practical reasons like logistics, availability and sometimes local preferences. It's why coke is sweetened with high fructose corn syrup in the US, cane sugar in Mexico, or beet sugar in most of Europe.

Then there are also local food standards and regulations to consider. For example, afaik use of pink slime is forbidden in Canada, all of the EU, and the UK (possibly as a holdover from having been part of the EU).

That the majority of U.S. farmers are millionaires.

I wouldn't be able to tell the difference at gunpoint.
I don't blame you; for a foreign eye they must look interchangeable. If you want one tip though: there are three letters that are not part of the English alphabet but are part of the Danish and Norwegian alphabet: æ, ø and å. The equivalent letters exist in the Swedish alphabet: ä, ö and å. Since ø is present in that poster's tagline you can be sure it is in either Danish or Norwegian, since those languages use that letter whereas the Swedish language does not.

I didn't know Conroy was gay or didn't remember. How he channeled his secret identity (or claimed to) and the problems with his parents when he auditioned for Batman was rather sweet.

I wish In-N-Out would come to MI. Apparently they have the highest quality standards for a fast food burger joint.

You are missing absolutely nothing. It was probably a decade or so ago they came to Ft. Worth, TX, and everyone lost their mind. I took an old girlfriend to the "grand" opening of the location near us, waited over an HOUR, finally got our food, aaaaand... burger was mid, and I've gotten better fries from the frozen section at the grocery store. I have no idea why this place gets people so hyped. It was on the NEWS when they first came to North Texas, and it's the definition of mediocre. I never felt the need to go back until maybe two years ago? I was out for lunch, saw an In-N-Out and thought "maybe I was too harsh that one time; I'll give it another try," aaaaand... burger was mid, and I've gotten better fries from the frozen section at the grocery store. I'll never eat there again, not because it's categorically bad, but because worse places have better options, if that makes any sense.

If "highest quality standards" are your major sticking point, then I hope you get your In-N-Out in Michigan; everything is sterilized, from their floors to their food.

Spain still has a monarchy. Their current king is 57 years old and has a 20 year old daughter next in line.

Which is cool and all. I'm not Spanish, I just happened to look it up.

I knew this, but it made me look up some interesting facts about Spain. This one deserves to be shared:

"The Spanish tooth fairy is a mouse
The name’s Pérez, El Ratoncito Pérez. He’s not an undercover agent, but he does often work under covers.
Ratoncito Pérez is the Spanish version of the tooth fairy. When a child loses one of their milk teeth, they place it under their pillow and Ratoncito replaces it with a small gift or some money.
It isn’t just Spain where Ratoncito operates - Mexico, Guatemala, Peru and Chile all have their versions of this tooth-loving rodent."

I don't know, last year I made my first ever visit to California. It was a Top Gear style road trip. A friend bought a used vehicle and flew me to Monterey so I could drive it back home. I decided to hit In and Out, I had never been to one before. I will grant you that the burger itself wasn't anything special, nor were the fries. But until that day I had no idea how much of a difference fresh vegetables could make to a burger. That burger was just bursting with the crispest and freshest lettuce I'd ever had on a burger in my life. The tomatoes were absolutely perfectly ripe and unbelievably sweet. And they use good buns. The patty was nothing special, and for the most part cheese is cheese. But everything else made it one of the better fast food burgers I'd ever had.

But on the way back, I made a Fallout pilgrimage to the Las/New Vegas area. And the Pioneer has a great BLT!

And there you have it, @hanselthecaretaker2: In-N-Out, the best place for fresh veggies... or, y'know, you could just go to a local market and make a superior burger at home.

Pretty much anything will be better with fresh ingredients made at home, but that’s beside the point. However I’m glad my expectations have been tempered a bit so that should I ever try it, I won’t be that disappointed.

My takeaway was; one of my co-workers only orders a burger with meat, cheese, bun. He told me In-and-Out was fine, but nothing special. And after having tried it, knowing how he orders a burger... makes total sense to me. But for me, the extreme freshness of the veggies (fresher than I can reliably get at a supermarket here @Xprimentyl btw) elevated it to top tier for fast food burger (where you are lucky if your lettuce is at least all green.) And even high enough to compare somewhat favorably to (what I consider) lower tier fast/casual places like 5 Guys.

Ok, I never thought that a drug urine test wouldn't be awkward, but now I have firsthand experience of exactly how awkward.

I don't know what magical In-N-Out you found, but nothing about my experiences was notable let alone exceptional. I'm about 3 miles from a Whole Foods and a Central Market, so fresh veggies are not anything remarkable (and in typing that, I'm ashamed how "1st world privilege"-y that sounds,) but I suppose that level of freshness could be considered remarkable from a fast food chain. I guess if my intention when leaving the house is "fast food," my standards are already rock bottom, so maybe In-N-Out's appeal to "quality freshness" on top of "off-the-shelf" blandness might stand out, but not enough to make news when they come to a new area like they did a decade ago here in North Texas. My position remains: In-N-Out is resoundingly mediocre if its identity is just the accoutrements of its nondescript menu.

An anecdote: a couple of decades ago, I applied for a position as a security guard at a bank. I sat through the interview, all went well, and as we were wrapping up, the interviewer said all we needed to do was the drug test. I'm thinking "ok, I'll go to some clinic, piss in a cup, wait a couple of days, and I'll hear back." The guy asked me to follow him; thought we were going to an administration desk to find find out where I needed to go for the test, but he led me to the bathroom, pulled a cup out of his pocket, and instructed me to fill it while he stood a few feet away. I had nothing to fear or hide, but something about being tasked to pee on command while someone watches (not watch as in "looking at my dick in my hand," just standing behind me at a respectful distance) made me nervous. When I finished, he took the cup, pulled out a testing strip from his other pocket, and tested my warm piss while I watched. I passed, naturally, and got the job, but I walked out feeling lowkey violated. Makes me wonder how many pot heads made it that far only to realize there was no call to a friend with clean pee to save them.

According to Terminal Lance, every time USMC come back from a liberty, there's a "surprise" drug test. And despite it being every time, it's still a surprise to some people who get caught.

Yeah, the one in Monterey is kind of magical. Not far from downtown, just a short walk to the beach, just off the PCH. And you drive like 5 minutes east, mile upon mile of vegetable farms. The lettuce on that burger could have been in the ground earlier that morning. In the winter where I live, the lettuce at the store was shipped here from somewhere far enough away that could actually grow it, or it was hothouse grown and has never seen actual sunlight or fresh air. And has been chilled to near freezing for shipping. What can I get fresh here in Kansas? Wheat, soybean and corn (90% which is fuel or animal feed quality,) milo and canola (inedible.) Some of our local politicians love to say things like "Kansas feeds the world." Well A, thanks to current national leadership... not anymore. And B, may have been true 30 years ago but now 2/3rds of what is grown here is entirely unfit for human consumption anyway.

Wow... so a complaint and comparison turns into a rant, and something you might have learned today.

Today I learned my new work laptop (Lenovo ThinkPad) is touchscreen. I noticed a few times over the past couple of weeks that when tapping Ctrl+function keys, the screen would jump; I thought it was me somehow knocking the mouse (which made no sense given neither hand had been on the mouse at the time,) but it was my knuckle interacting with the screen. Can't decide if I like or not yet, but still pretty cool. Does make swiping dust off the screen annoying, though.

You know all those vitamins and antioxidants in vegetables that make them good for you? Guess what? If you eat your salad with fat free dressing (that you're told is healthier), you get basically none of those nutrients. Chylomicrons are what transports fat into your system and fat-soluble nutrients are passengers that come along for the ride. If there's no fat, there's no ride. This is why removing fat from foods is horrible, you can't even get many nutrients. They add vitamin d to milk, then they make skim milk and remove the fat, then you don't even get that vitamin d that was added. This is an example of how asinine nutritional guidance is.

Didn't know this was a thing. Go download it. You can play all the video games, watch all the news, and see all the NSFW stuff you want without employers knowing...

Also, VPNs are too tricky to set up correctly. You have to set it up so that you are only using it during the times it's needed by adding it to your network and joining it, basically. Not doing that.
