Why do you think that? I figure, I have absolutely no privacy if you're worried about that sort of thing. My wife can simply mention to me she is interested in a widget and the next thing you know, online, emails, texts, we're getting bombarded with adds for said widget. Any other reason?
My biggest complaint, which isn't much: they often give away games I already have (This round, Hogwarts and Disco Elysium to name a few). So far, I've gotten about 400 games from them for free. I've bought maybe 5. But I did get, for instance, Dead Island 2 that I would have passed upon but for it being free. With cheats (I use a product called "Wand") it's pretty fun.
Privacy isn't a concern. Everything is after user data. For me, its that Epic really wants to be a monopoly. Steam might be a defacto monopoly, but epic wants to be one in action. Paying for exclusives and trying to bully companies, plus they welcomed nft crap on their store when that was a thing.

Konami gonna Konami -

Capcom pretty much nearly does this with Resident Evil now. Still not a good idea, but I am not going to bother worrying at the moment.

A user on the same reddit link:

This is essentially what Resident Evil does.
5 titles since 2017, with 3 being back to back (RE2, RE3 and Village). RE7 and RE4 have a year gap each from this group of games. 9 Releases next year and there's a very big rumour of a remake coming in 2027.
You can do it if you have multiple teams working on games that feel different enough for them to not be too similar to one another.

The absolute gall to do this with an already released product rather than doing it with a new graphics card is absurd. Why are they increasing the price by 150%? Fuck you that's why.

No new features, no new technology to justify a price hike, just absolute shithead greed and arrogance.

An interesting curiosity I most likely can't afford to own though no less interested to learn

Prices of an obscure PS4 game are skyrocketing thanks to the latest PS5 jailbreak efforts

Now this is pod racing!

The price of an obscure PS4 game is skyrocketing on the second-hand market, thanks to its necessity in a new PS5 jailbreak. This game, of which 1,000 or less physical copies were produced, has suddenly become a hot commodity among jailbreak enthusiasts and resellers alike.

The game in question is Star Wars Racer Revenge, specifically the Limited Run Games physical special re-release for the PS4. This collectors item was first sold in 2019 by Limited Run as a collectors item, the companies' business model focusing on taking older titles and repackaging them in special physical versions for enthusiasts.

Why is this game noteworthy? According to one of the developers behind the upcoming version 12.0 PS5 jailbreak, this physical version of Star Wars Racer Revenge is needed. The reason is interesting, as the game has a decade's old bug that allows players to inject code via its Hall of Fame menu. So in order to jailbreak the PS5, you'll need to snatch yourself a copy of the game.

As for how hard this is, you may be shocked to learn that these Limited Run games were part of a… limited run. As such, you can't buy them from the Limited Run Games website anymore, you can only buy them second-hand. According to official Limited Run Games sales data, only 8,500 copies were produced. Your only bet is to luck out in a store out in the real world, or the treacherous world of online markets.

Taking a look at Ebay as of writing presents one with a shocking list of absurdly expensive copies of Star Wars Racer Revenge. Prices range from £70 to upwards of £300 as people attempt to profit off the game's newfound value to PS5 jailbreakers.

So if you've got a taste for diving deep into your console's guts and unlocking a world of interesting possibilities via niche means, or happen to have an old copy of Limited Run Games' Star Wars Racer Revenge release lying around, 2026 might be off to an explosive start.

As someone who's been running AMD for years: I don't trust them for a moment to not follow suit.
Hoping not. Their new 9070XT supposedly outperforms their previous cards for about $650. I got about 3 years before I buy my next card. Fingers crossed things don't go sideways. I'm hoping SSDs come down to normal prices again.

Odd, I thought PS+ for PS4 ended in January. Kinda hoping they will concerned that trying to make games cross platform may be slowing down development. 1767370589545.png

Yet another way the typical consumer will be screwed over by AI (Nvidia being a current leader). The other big one is how much natural resources (including fresh water and even fossil fuels) are being eaten up by data centers, and the resulting pollution. Living close to one has also increased property taxes, which is fine if planning on selling but who the fuck is going to buy a house now when they cost 2+x what they did a decade ago.

Kinda forgot how long PS4 has been out now. Guess it’s too much to ask that the PS5 Slim could be cheaper than what the original cost more than five years ago.

They'll just raise their price by 120% rather than 150%.
And @Chimpzy, while I am at it:

How about either
  • A. Build a functional feature and not force it on users of the new OS
  • B. Not invest in such shit product and causing dram shortages across the world, leading to RAM price hike
I genuinely think he is the worst tech giant ceo that I’ve ever seen, right up there with Elizabeth Holmes, Sam Bankman-Fried (cringiest name I have ever heard), Andrew Wilson, and Yves Guillemont
