I feel bad for anyone named Karen. Like, everyone pretends that we're all so tolerant and respectful and then the world at large just decides to turn a random womans name into a slur. Absolutely no consideration for how it will affect tens of thousands of innocent people. It's just gross.

I know two women named Karen. Neither is worthy of the slur name. One is my friends mom and shes just sweet, the other owned a law firm that specialized in immigration law I.E. helping people get green cards and navigate the courts to become a citizen.

Interestingly the New Zealand Karen is totally separate in origin to the more mainstream US derived Karen, but both ended up the same. Also notable that the US Karen started out very different to how she ended up.

Somebody rear-ended me this morning on my way to work. Everyone was slowing down because of another accident that had happened further along the on-ramp I was on, except the guy behind me didn't quite get the memo in time. It took the police a little while to respond because there was a third accident on the other ramp that fed into the highway. The impact wasn't hard enough to deploy air bags, but my bumper is all sorts of cracked up; thankfully, the car seems drivable otherwise.

The other guy wasn't so lucky- his car seemed to be leaking oil or coolant. Apparently it was a company car and the guy was really worried about losing his job. Honestly I feel bad for him.

Hang on, if it’s a company car, why the hell was it leaking oil?

Oil pan got damaged? Why would that not be an issue with a company car?

Honestly I can't even remember why I latched onto that as being strange or somehow pertinent.
Not sure about everywhere, but here in 'Murica, the driver who does the rear-ending is de facto at fault 99% of the time. We're taught in driver's ed[ucation] to be mindful of "assured clear distance," the gap a responsible driver maintains that permits them to stop in any circumstance without hitting the car in front of them. Sage advice we all immediately ignore once handed our license because I defy you to find ANYONE who does this. That driver might be concerned because in this instance, it's apparent he was extra negligent, and he's going to cost his company not only money in repairs to their car, but also Rogue Wolf's car and his medical expenses since I'm sure he flopped out of the vehicle, wailing and gnashing his teeth, complaining of neck pains, and demanded to be care flighted to the most prestigious hospital in his area.

I hate reddit. Half the time my posts will get deleted for one reason or another and eventually I'll give up. A lot of the time it will be because I don't have enough karma in the subreddit or some other completely arbitrary reason. Today I thought of a stupid question I thought was funny and tried to post it in /nostupidquestions two seconds later it was deleted because the subreddit I guess the subreddit isn't meant for jokes and they suggested posting it to /shittyaskreddit. So I thought ok, why not? "this post was deleted by reddit's filters" What the heck?!

Oh, having said that, you have to share the question here.
It's already something I mentioned in my bible thread, but sure:

Are people having kids too early these days? I'm reading the bible and most people back then didn't have kids until they were well over a hundred. Heck, Noah waited until he was over 500 years old!

I'm sure that's just a metaphor for teen pregnancy.

The world is kind of a terrible place. Look at all the people that have something really embarrassing happen to them in public that gets posted on Youtube. My dad was watching a video where a woman tripped on a treadmill, grabbed the hand bar but was unable to regain her feet. Eventually the tread pulled her pants down after which she let go and was ejected. As if it wasn't bad enough to have that happen in public and be seen by a couple dozen people, most of which probably weren't paying attention and wouldn't have seen the whole thing, the event gets posted on Youtube and 15 million people get to watch the whole event, repeatedly and in slow motion if they feel like it.

I feel like if something like that happened to me I would never be the same again. I would need therapy to help me learn to live my life in a world where more people than I would ever meet in 100 lifetimes were laughing at me. It should be against the law to record someone in public without their recorded consent.

I think I know what the problem is here. You're using Reddit. Stop now and your life will improve immeasurably.
If you ever start to miss it, just go to your nearest sewer access, prise the lid off and stick your head under the effluent stream for 30 seconds or so. It will have pretty much the same effect as going on Reddit but be much healthier in the long run.

Very true, but sometimes I have opinions on some obscure piece of media and reddit is pretty much the only place to find other people who have heard of it. Except usually I'm very critical and they are fans so I get downvoted a bunch. Also I like to keep up with all the posts on a thread I make which, because of reddit's terrible format, means I have to keep track of how many posts there are and how long it's been since I last checked then scan through every post in the thread to find the new ones. It just sucks!

I definitely try to limit my reddit usage these days, though.
