Fuck you too, Rockstar.

I'm not buying the game anyway, but this might set a dangerous precedent for other companies.

This is basically how the PC gaming market started to go downhill twenty years ago. Fucking Steam codes inside boxes.

Being able to download a game should always be a convenience, not the default. Aside from poor independent developers.

And probably planning to sell it separately.

Oh, and also?

That's a dick move. I mean, I was planning on getting the Ultimate Edition regardless, but it seems really petty to lock some basic functionality behind a paywall for other who just want the base game. At the very least these seem to be nominal features. In all my years of GTA-ing, I never much focused on the customization shit; most car I drove didn't last beyond a 6-star wanted level, and tattoos and shit are barely seen, so if I were a base game buyer, I wouldn't feel like I was missing much

Is this a big deal though? I mean there have been loads of games that lock cosmetics behind ultimate editions that come with a bunch of nonsense but ultimately unimportant stuff.

It would be nice if companies stopped doing this, but we've lost that war a long time ago so it's kind of just par for the course now and it's shit that people are more than willing to pay for. I don't see anything that would be terrible to miss out on if you only buy the regular edition.

Nintendo pushing cartridges with only keys. Sony releasing the PS5 Pro without a disc drive. GTA V having just a code. The writing has been on the wall for years. I'll be surprised if next gen consoles have disc drives. Games get so many first week patches and updates anyway. Complete physical editions with all the updates later are a thing of the past. It's over. They have always hated the resale market.

This isn't just a couple of skins. This would be like locking tattoo parlors and clothing shops behind the Ultimate Edition in a Saint's Row game. Sure, there's other gameplay, but customization is a big part of why people play these games.

But there is nothing to suggest these are the ONLY shops of this kind in the game. I'm willing to bet there are other tattoo and car customizing places in the game, but these specific ones aren't available. Which is fairly normal for games, some cosmetics are locked behind things.

Regardless, I don't make excuses for standardized and basic features being locked behind the game. It's bullshit and we all know this. So let's not try to rationalize, nor justify their greed. I am so glad I stopped caring about this franchise, after the fourth mainline entry. I was already in all variety person, but one of best decisions of my life, and still no regrets. Much better gaming memories.

If any of you all want to be bended and screwed over, y'all can have at it. But for christ's sakes, develop some standards and priorities.

To me, the description listed by Rockstar in the image does suggest just that, at least for vehicle customization. It doesn't say anything like "elite customization" or "specialized customization", it says "transform vanilla vehicles into magnificent works of art with detailed interiors, exquisite rims, and donk stylings". That doesn't sound like only SOME customizations won't be available in the base game to me.

The Switch 2 has been doing this since day 1. Game cards are only keys and have no game data on them.
Game Key Cards ( or whatever they're called ) are bullshit, I agree, however at least you can sell a Key Card or buy one second hand.

You can do neither with GTA6 so it's one step beyond on the bullshit scale in my eyes.

What is the biggest disc size now? Even if it did ship first on disc, it would require a download to update to the latest version like every game these days anyways.

95GB-ish i think. But that's not really a limit. Games can use multiple discs. Cyberpunk did, FF7 Rebirth did, so size really isn't a limitation, and it hasn't since cartridges because even PS1 games needed several discs for tons of games.

Should GTA 6 cost $80? Fuck no.
Should it be digital only? Fuck no.
Is it still gonna sell like hotcakes? You bet your ass it will! Rockstar and T2 is about to make un-deserved BANGER of mints

I think the only thing I can agree on is not having the online multiplayer being available at launch. As with any games, I want the community to share what their experience was like from the same missions and story, before being flooded with loud, screaming, complaining, raging experiences and moments in MP. I am fully aware it will get there one day, but I just want to enjoy somewhat-peaceful space before turning into screaming warfare.

Also, $20 bucks on the eventual PC release spec being ridiculous; Like, high-end rtx 5000 series to potential 6000 series, 200 GB of space, 32 GB of RAM, etc. AND Have to be launched via Rockstar Game LAuncher.
