I've been going on an FPS marathon lately, PC games mostly.

I've played Half Life 2, Doom 3, Far Cry 1, FEAR 1, Prey 2006, Bioshock 1 and 2, Quake 1 and 4, and Warhammer 40k Fire Warrior.

Right now I am playing Return to Castle Wolfenstein, and this one I've never played before in my life.

Plan to replay System Shock 2 again, and the Thief games

Going for the last two gambling challenges in Red Dead 2. I’ve been informed of a possibly better strategy for the dominos one I’m on now, playing lowest pips first so in the chance you win the opponent will have his highest values remaining. Hopefully it will go quicker that way so I don’t end up wanting to shoot my adversary after I finally win.

Also started a NG+ of TLoU2 for collectibles mostly. Then there’s Sekiro which I want to get back into soon. But mostly I’ve still been on a Red Dead kick.

After I finish Doom Eternal I think I'll play through Dark Souls 2 Scholar of the First Sin.

I never actually played Scholar of the First Sin. I played through Dark Souls 2 4 times (pre-patch, so I went through Shrine of Amana the hard time every time) but never bothered playing through Scholar. I own it, I've just never played through it. I'm feeling like playing through a Souls game again, and I might as well do one I haven't done.

I did it! I beat Star Fox Route 3! My hands are aching like crazy from all those barrel rolls, but I did it!

Now I'm going to move onto Star Fox 2 and hope I don't sprain my wrists.

Got the full edition of the surge 2. Even with all DLC it only was a 10gig download, I had to paw my tired eyes to double check, as every other game had to involve juggling (deleting) the previous hard drive habitants around before downloading. It doesn't look or run bad either, with a smooth 60fps too, so what's all the other game's excuses? So, definitely an improvement and a far superior tutorial section. Couple of moments of screen tearing and slow texture loading when caught off guard, but otherwise is good to see the sci-fi souls get a more vigorous shake. Not sure about the fantasy elements it appears to be teasing yet though.

Also got the council, rather curious little telltale-like with more gameplay/roleplay systems, however was probably not wise to play late at night fighting oncoming sleep, as it does expect you to be alert and attentive, especially as I happened to choose the detective/psychology background for the main mister David Tennant doppelganger character.

Finally earned the platinum trophy for Blasphemous (I'd been waiting for them to release NG+ before replaying it). Those new DLC bosses were tricky but great fun. The fights reminded me of the Valkyries in God of War 4 a bit.

Now playing through Paper Mario. Never played it before, been meaning to do so for yonks. Freed 5 out of 7 Star Spirits so far. It's great.

(I also find it endlessly hilarious that the little star guy's name is Twink. "Hi Twink, I'm Bear").

And I beat Star Fox 2.

In less than an hour.

On normal, granted.

Less than an hour.

...I think I like it even less than Command. :(

A few friends of mine got me to start playing Pokken Tournament. The online lag is actually surprisingly decent; I can connect from Australia to Europe and still get a good match. Well, 'good' as in not much lag, because all of them have been playing a lot longer than me and I'm nowhere near their skill level unless they handicap themselves with 'mons they don't know how to use.

Then again, I've never been good at fighting games, so I don't know what I expected. Guess I just have to try and enjoy hanging out even if I can't win a game.

Hope its been a while, you need to unremember some things like enemy positions

Agreed the wanted system is a bit wonky. Be very careful riding your horse through Saint Denis. They are “civilized” folk that are just itching for a chance to cry foul.
Oh, I found this out recently. Bumped some lady, got a "Disturbing the Peace" bounty, not to mention a chased down a pickpocket and got my money back but apparently that's not okay(the cops weren't doing shit).

THen I realized having even the smallest bounty in St. Denis is a giant PITA because cops are everywhere and will sound the alarm if/when they see you. I tried paying off the bounty at the train station and the clerk kept yelling at me to leave when I tried to talk to him for reasons I didn't understand. I would get the prompt but the moment I got close enough to try to act on it he's act like I was threatening him or being an asshole.

I had to leave the city and pay the bounty in rhodes, because reasons. Eyup. Still a beautiful city though.

Still working on Chapter 3. Found the Aberdeen Pig Farm. Yikes, that was......pretty terrible. I mean. I figured something was wrong but I just had to walk inside and have a drink of the "Mystery Liquor". So I brought that on myself.

The dynamic of this chapter being set in "the South" is interesting, particularly Dutch's barely concealed contempt for everyone living down there because his daddy died in the civil war. OTOH, you've got the Lemoyne Raiders, a bunch of bandits cosplaying as confederate soldiers, who presumably are hold outs for the confederacy despite the fact it's unlikely any of these guys are old enough to remember the confederacy, let alone have fought for it the first time around. So yeah.....

Yeah it’s a lot of fun to rack up a bounty up and down the streets in that place, but best to have a yellow health core first. I don’t recall if you have to change wardrobe or if just waiting until the heat is off you to be able to pay off bounties there though. It might be a certain threshold, but since I think they can also recognize custom weapons and your horse it’s usually better to get the hell outta dodge to Rhodes like you did because cops there are basically *lawful* thugs a-plenty, and most likely in the mayor’s pocket.

RtCW is, in my view, right up there as the best single player FPS ever. It does nothing original or special - it is really just a totally straightforward, no frills FPS (no RPG elements, no significant narrative, no moral quandaries and emotional depth, etc.), but it got absolutely everything absolutely right. Level design, guns, controls, enemies, all are slick and work exactly as they should in an incredibly satisfying way. With the possible exception of the end boss, which is a little bit of just a basic circle strafe.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
Right now I still need to finish up Persona 4, now I am on the last dungeon. Also working on Horizon Zero Dawn which is mostly stable but I have had a couple crashes. Also screwing around in Risk of Rain 2 since that fully released. And to top it all off Spirit Farer rudely snuck its way onto Steam and I feel like I have to get that game so I can be an emotional wreck, so I'll probably be doing that soon too.

I tried out Remnant From the Ashes, since it was free on Epic. That's not very fun. Nobody seems to be playing it in multiplayer when I try and join a match. Not sure if it's limited to just Epic users, which wouldn't make sense, but hey it's video game proprietary logic, so who knows.

But yeah it's just....bleh.

Sort of? The impression I get is that it's trying to be Dark Souls, but also multiplayer. There is a single player offline mode you can play, and there is somethign of a "quest" you are doing. But yeah you can join others. The multiplayer part feels more like...I dunno, L4D2 or Warhammer Vermintide game that is built like L4D2. Where it's just a shared instance and you guys run out and do...whatever it is you do. I assume we pick up with whatever storypoint the host is at, and we just run around with them. Only time I was able to join a group though, the guy was just running around the base doing upgrades for like 10 minutes. Finally got tired of waiting and left.
