Great! More cringe humor shoved over top one of my favorite movies growing up for a completely unnecessary remake! I am so pissed right now! I loved that movie when I was a kid, it was so scary and creepy and yet hopeful... NO! Stop it stop it stop it! URGH!

It's easier if you pretend this is somehow pushing back the Back to the Future softrebootmake.

They're doing that? Why? I mean, I know why. Money. But ... why?
We already had a Back to the Future Remake 10 Years ago. The Hot Tub Time Machine.

Not seeing it, nor do I care. I saw the original alot back between the ages of 3-9. After that I never felt the need to watch it again. I'd still watch the original over whatever this is.

Is that Chris Rock narrating? So not only do they intend for this remake to not even have on ounce of the tension the original movie had, they want it to coast on whatever popularity Everybody Hates Chris might still have?

I mean, I honestly don't mind a remake of The Witches, since I don't think the original movie is a masterpiece or even that unique, but dear God, at least put some effort into it so it doesn't look like an even flimsier looking Tim Burton remake.

Zemeckis and Gale are adamant about protecting the rights to Back to the Future "over their dead bodies", which in Hollywood also translates to "until we need the money". So the way I see it anything that keeps Zemeckis busy is good news.

Is that Chris Rock narrating?
Chris Rock is shrieking, yes.

Lose 1d20 sanity points.
Eh, everything is a remake nowadays I see little point in getting pissed over it, I mean as a horror movie fan I'm very much indifferent to that by now, that being said it looks like an average kids movie, probably not gonna watch it but not really anything that'd illicit any sort of reaction from me.

I'm not sure what the issue is here. The Witches is a book by Roald Dahl. There's no rule that a work can only be adapted once. By that same logic, Jackson's Lord of the Rings would never have been made, and we should all be up in arms at the upcoming Dune movie.

People are acting like this hasn't been happening for half a century

I literally have no stakes in this. Pretending to care about reboots is... why bother? It does not effect the old version one iota.

If I don't like the idea of a reboot... I could just not see it

I hope they keep the book's ending this time. They probably won't, though.

I vaguely remember the book being one of the few things that seemed to encourage not washing if you wanted to avoid capture. Hats off to the writer though; to this day i still havent been caught by a witch!

I don't see what the issue was with the original ending. That the protagonist will die in nine years? Yeah, that's dark. But cut that out, leave him as a mouse, and, yeah. Happy ending, no scarred kids.

Haven't seen it but the reviews I've read so far are lackluster.

Most seem to agree that it doesn't quite have the magic/spark of the 1990 film, heavy use of CGI having a bit to do with that but the direction being a major factor.

A few reviews have also noted that it's weird they changed the setting to the 1960's deep south and...it doesn't seem to affect much of anything considering the casting.

I wasn't really planning to see it anyway though.
