Tom Holland is five foot eight and skinny. Not whom I picture Nate like at all. But a game trying to be a movie doesn't need to be a movie anyway, so whatever.

I wonder if he's going to end up killing hundreds of people, like how Nate does in each game.

This movie took so long in development hell that the game series ended.

Tom Holland looks good as Drake in that outfit, I'll give 'm that, but we all know how this is going to end up; as just another shitty videogame movie to throw on to the pile. This whole mentality of 'let's make a movie out of this very cinematic, twelve-hour long videogame, but brought back to only two hours and with a fraction of the scope and zero interactivity' is something you'd think people would realize the futility of.

I will never not see Tom Holland as a teenager. He's a few years older than me, but he will always be puny Peter Parker.

That said, honestly, could be enjoyable enough. I have no clue what being an Uncharted movie could possibly bring to the cinema that would make it unique, but I'd be more than fine if it ended up as a generic but solid action movie.

The real question is, will he destroy every ancient site he steps foot in, as well many of the modern ones as well?
Remember when he destroyed that important historical landmark and probably tourist attraction for those poor people in King's Bay, and then proceeded to recklessly drive a car through their shanty town and wreck all their market stalls, and finally laid waste to an entire shipping yard, probably ruining the livelihood of dozens upon dozens of people? I mean, fun sequence and all, but Jesus, did a lot of those inhabitants get fucked over by this white American having a fun adventure.

To their credit, one of them flat out says "We can never come back here!" during the chase, but yeah, it does come across as rather callous. In the rest of the series, these things are always taking place out in the middle of nowhere or, as in 2, a city that was already being blown to bits before he got there(in Kathmandu). I know gaming-sins had a phrase for this and it was "Nathan Drake is the worst thing to happen to Archaeology since ISIS".

They really should have had a sequence in the games where Drake blows up Mt. Rushmore or something, or has to behead Lincoln's statue to get some treasure.

Stop spoiling the plot of Uncharted 5: Drake gets bored of domestic life, again, and goes to stop his never-before mentioned and super evil sister!

The title will probably get condensed a bit before release.

No offense to Tom, he's not the big bad strong action hero type. He works as teenage spider man, who is a teenager...and spider man. But putting him as Nathan Drake would be like putting him as Judge Dredd. Come to think of it why didn't they cast Karl Urban?

I actually find these inception levels of media recursion fascinating. It reminds me of the RE franchise of films. How they are a film adaptation, of a video game series, that is itself, an adaptation of a film genre. It makes me think of those videos you can find, where someone uses google translate on some language, and then translates it BACK into the original to see how much gets altered through the 2 cycles.

I'm curious how "action movie about action video game that is an adaptation of action movies" will end up.

Don't really care about Uncharted itself. I played the first 2, they were fine. Nothing really special to write home about, the characters were about as factory standard as I can recall. I mean considering they were walking tv tropes of action archetypes from the onset, that's hardly surprising.
