“We're moving away from toxic masculinity, and that's happening because women are being open, demanding and vocal, and calling out misbehaviour as soon as we see it.”

I find the phrase toxic masculinity oppressive. Why can't they just say "misogyny," like normal people? Wonder how many classic movies these people would have cancelled. Even something fairly harmless and relatively modern like Temple of Doom, most definitely.

Though, the article that quoted her is such clickbait, titled, "Women of the Year: Lashana Lynch on making history as the first Black female 007," but confirming it nowhere.

https://www.harpersbazaar.com/uk/cu...814/lashana-lynch-black-female-007-interview/

YouTubers and Esquire immediately ran with "confirmed" early last month as well. Wouldn't surprise me, though. I sense people want it now: a female 007. I don't. To be honest, I haven't liked any James Bond since Casino Royale. Didn't even bother with the last one. I wish EoN Productions got new management and writers.

Misogyny instead of misbehaviour or toxic masculinity or what?

If it's the latter, it's not really the same thing. Toxic masculinity (I used to say testosterone poisoning myself) is why you see men doing stupid and dangerous things to be thought of as being a real man, there's no need for women to be involved. Not going to see a doctor for something that might turn out to be serious because you don't want to appear weak, for example.

I sense people want it now: a female 007. I don't.
Do people though, or is James Bond just going to retire from being 007 form like 5 minutes so there's a new one, and they want someone female (and also black, oh no), cause they get to look progressive, even if she gets 2 lines and turns out to be evil?

EDIT: You said you stopped liking Bond a few films back, and I did as well, and I bet lots of people did. One more pointless Bond film to not be excited about, and and there's a woman maybe doing something this time. Yay.

I'm not sure why you're bringing this up now. This is old news. Like, really old news. But fine, I've nothing better to do, so here's my Q cents:

-The title is clickbait - "making history as the first Black female 007." James Bond has never been anything else other than white and male, and there was never any suggestion that he be otherwise, or could, be otherwise. Black? Yeah, that could work. Female? Well then you're not James Bond, you morons. The idea of a female James Bond is utterly rediculous for numerous reasons.

-On the flipside, people are reading way too much into this. First, the plot is that Lynch's character has taken Bond's 007 position after he retired. Bond will remain male into the future, and it's been stated as such. So really, this shouldn't be a controversy, and as per the article, no-one should be harassing Lynch for it.

Really, I could go on, but the outrage is nonsense, and that goes to both SQWs and SJWs. We had "strong female characters" (God, I hate that phrase) well before this point in the franchise's history, and that includes female agents. Having an Afro-British 007 agent isn't really news to me, because as stated, it's not replacing James Bond the character, it's simply a plot point.

One month ago is really old news? What? This is about her interview and all the YouTube videos and everything it sparked at the time, around November 3rd to 4th.

I don't think anyone is suggesting a female James Bond. Don't know why people keep saying this. The topic has always been a female 007 replacing James Bond. It really wouldn't surprise me if it was under discussion with how favorably many people are reacting.

I mean the news that in the film that there's a female 007, not so much the article itself.

I really don't see that happening either. We know that No Time to Die is Craig's last Bond film, and it wouldn't surprise me if the series was rebooted again afterwards. So even if Lynch stays as 007 in this continuity, come the next one, Bond will be 007 again.

I could be wrong, but I doubt we'll get a permanant female 007. The term is inextricably linked with Bond itself.

You already mentioned you have not liked Bond since Casino Royale, I don't know why you are even bothered with this interview. You ain't planning on seeing it anyway. The only Craig Bond films I dislike is Quantum of Solace. You wannabe shitty Jason Borne. I am glad that era of film making died down. The only ones that care about her opinion and upset about it are you (I know you are not a man baby, but I feel you are getting worked up over something dumb) and alt-right man baby assholes on YouTube with nothing better to do, but b#tch and moan. It's old news and I know I am looking forward to see the movie, my parents, friends, and co-workers.

But, MGM will lose money if you put a vagina in the wrong place in the movie. We did the math Go Woke = Go Broke

I don't think we'll have a permanent female 007 either. But if she does become 007, the next continuity/reboot could be fourteen years away. Craig had the longest run ever. If you wanna make her a protagonist, have her movies run alongside the next continuity of white male-starring James Bond movies.

Actually, better not have two series running at once, since it takes Eon years now just to get one movie out. Nope, no female 007 movie at all.

It was one of the videos that YouTube recommended to me that led me to skimming the article. I wanted to confirm, since practically every video went with "confirmed."

Okay, you got "confirmation". You just stated that you weren't going to see it anyway, regardless of the interview was real or not. You went out of your way just to get upset at something. You brought the misery on yourself and wasting your time over nothing. If you do decide to see this film after that whole "I'm not going to see this film" rant, I will laugh.

I would not mind a female 007 either way. Plus, there are plenty of other options; specially nowadays.

If you really wanted this to just be about the first female James Bond then why is the first half of your post about not liking the phrase 'toxic masculinity' and such. I mean you only even talk about James Bond at the very end. Plus, a lot of people like James Bond more as a code name, not as a real name since it explains the different actors in the part.

That's crap. I can still want something better for Bond in the future even if I have no plans of seeing the next movie. A new James Bond movie used to be exciting for me. I hope one day it can be again.

I used to be able to just say I like Brie Larson. Then she made an ass of herself and now I have to say I liked her before and have not even seen Captain Marvel and don't care about superheroes.

I've always thought the idea of James Bond as a codename total rubbish. The different runs aren't connected. Connecting them would cause too many continuity errors. Each of them are the one and only James Bond.

Well, it is rubbish, causes continuity errors, but they clearly are connected anyway. Had the same Q then the same M (with crossover), the bit with the wife and his relationship with old Blofeld, occasional caches of stuff from other films (like Lazenby's drawer).

Though, if you want to fix things, I might go so far as to say it's better if every single movie is unconnected to any other.

inb4 "You're a misogynist racist if you don't go out and watch this movie".

Let them do as they please, just don't humor them. It's about money after all, and if the first film tanks, they will have the opportunity to change it.

That's fair, but same Q and M doesn't mean much when you have three different Felix Leiters during Connery's run.

Then why have the same people show up between runs like Moneypenny? The code name thing makes the movies continuity fun, if you just view them as individual universes then you could just swap them out with Jason Borne.

It makes the continuity dumb also for the fact that they have different tones. Roger Moore's silly movies could never exist in Craig's more down to Earth universe. The same people show up because people want to see them again. I was hoping to see John Cleese return after Die Another Day as well.

Moonraker and For Your Eyes Only can't really exist in the same universe either, though.

Seriously disagree about John Cleese.
