Setting fire to a building after hours from outside is so much of a far cry from that it's not even funny. And the fact that that is what warrants a police response, but not execution squads is what's wrong with the country. Because it's what people like you call for whether you mean to or not.
I mean, if you count one person shot, dozens arrested, and a 6pm curfew as "not police response", sure. For some reason you have in your head that police supported this, and reality just doesn't agree with you.

Yes, they were complicit
a) Complicit in what? What exactly do you think they aided?
b) This happens all the time with other protests, where police back off to try and deescalate. That's not complicit in the crime, it's harm reduction strategy.

Uhhhh, they didn't block off. They literally let them in. Then took selfies with them. And when asked why they aren't pulling them out of the capitol building, they replied with "We've just got to let them do their thing now."

That's complicit. They literally enabled them. They rolled out the red carpet for them. They didn't start doing anything about them until the National Guard got called in.

And when the police were told to stand down and let the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone play itself out, were they being complicit in the lawlessness? I don't think you believe the police supported the autonomous zone because they let them do their thing for a time, and you should apply the same reasoning here.

Notice the operative phrase "were told"

Nobody above the police here were saying to let them in. Further, the police weren't taking selfies with the CHAZ people. And finally, the CHAZ wasn't the US capitol being invaded by people trying explicitly to overthrow democracy across the entire country. False equivalency is false.

You cannot possibly know either of these things.
I can actually guarantee the first since mayor Bowser was calling for the National Guard since the DC police weren't doing their job.

For the second, it took at most hours for MAGA hats taking selfies with DC police to surface, find me the selfies with Seattle police.

I have a distinct feeling if they’d received orders from above to do what they did at Capitol Hill then they’d be broadcasting it far and wide if only to cover their own arses.
The headlines are all about police trying to keep protesters out. Outside of little enclaves like this, nobody is acting like the police encouraged this. Why would they broadcast "we were told to take down that barricade" when the headlines are about them keeping the protesters out?

That's like walking into a room and declaring "I did not just jerk off" when nobody was thinking you did.

You're not going to count the innumerable "police and protesters get along, take a knee together, have a cookout" type stories from the past year as anything but propaganda, but those. Those were reported on immediately everywhere they happened.

You know what, I'll give you that. Since it's from the vast majority of the protests, which were peaceful.

This however wasn't one of those peaceful protests. This was a violent attempt at a coup. So why are the police treating it with the same attitude that they treat peaceful protests?

Maybe because they didn't burn and loot stuff?
> A motherfucking bomb
> Multiple broken windows
> At least 1 person shot among other injuries
> Social media pictures and videos bragging about taking items including a speaker's podium from Capitol Building

Houseman: Nope, no burning and looting here.

Is a person smiling and asking to take a selfie with you violent? These people are idiots who did bad things and should be arrested, but their bad thing was what? Criminal trespass? That's a violent coup? You exaggerate and it blinds you to the most likely explanations.

I am pretty confident that the police held them out of the building while it was evacuated, and let the barrier down into an empty building, because it was tactically the option with the least damage done. And with the exception of a single protester, I think it was pretty successful at that, at least so far.

You're confident in a delusion
