For the Fighting Game Community, your Main is a powerful, powerful thing. They either speak to you in an intrinsic way in which you connect with them, or you place all your hopes and dreams in them to bring you to victory.

While it isn't my favorite Fighting Game series, my favorite fighting game of all times is Street Fighter 3rd Strike. I've played them all. And my main has always been Ryu.

Ryu is complete in Street Fighter 3 third strike. Not only is it the best Ryu has ever looked, his tool set is the most complete. And I will never stop getting hyped for the Shinshoryuken.

My favorite Series of all time is Tekken. Hwoarang was my main for most of the series, and I felt his peak was in TTT2. But I have to cheat a little. Josie and Leroy are all I ever wanted in Tekken characters. The No Nonsense beat down that Josie can dish out, and "Fuck your Tier List, I'm Leroy" of Leroy Smith.

I know Leroy will be nerfed to HELL if he's ever brought back. But it was good to like a top tier once in my life.

Ryu was at is best in 3rd Strike. Agreed.

Sakura in Capcom vs. SNK 2. She got re-dubbed with the same voice actor, but sounds really aggressive, pissed, and makes her even more awesome because of it.

Cody in Street Fighter V. Glad to see him out of that ugly striped prison jumpsuit. I'm just happy one of my favorite brawler characters got himself in to a better position in life. Warmed my heart and I did tear up a little. He may not have Jessica anymore, but he'll endure and live just fine.

Chun-Li, Dudley, Makoto, Elena, and Urien's 3rd Strike iterations I find the most appealing.

Marshall Law in Tekken 5. Eddie Gordo in Tekken 3.

Axel Stone and Adam Hunter in Streets of Rage 4. Axel goes from Cody clone to blonde, bearded, Ryu stuck with grunge fashion the 90s. Clearly at his most powerful at this point. Adam is cool as always and only gets more cool from here. Got the best slide, dash, n' evade in the game.

Jacky Bryant and Akira inVirtua Fighter 5.

Maxi in Soul Calibur 2.

Long, Jenny, and Yugo in Bloody Roar Primal Fury.

So many things to say.

I hated that they put the Haggar Costume on Cody. I don't like it. Why mash them together? And it makes him look scrawny.

When I went into the lab with Cody, I... I don't know. It was Hallow. Like, I tried. I played Final Fight in the Arcade as a kid. I mess with some Cody. I just couldn't vibe with him in 5.

3rd Strike anything is the best anything. Because of the Parry System did I try non-fireball characters for the first time. Hot damn, are they rewarding. I really don't like grapplers. I tend to Vortex nowadays... But 3rd Strike is the best fighting game of all time.

You're saying something I thought of for a while. I liked Eddie only in 3. Every other time when they tried to add more to him, he always seemed less.

SEGA BRING BACK VIRTUA FIGHTER. I know they announced some FGC link up last year, but nothing else was heard. I need vf5fr on my Switch and I need Virtua Fighter 6 now.

... Not going to lie, Maxi got me heated a lot of times. But it made me work on Hwang a little more. His kicks had more priority over Maxi's one button style when you had the right footsies.

Just to have a goofy costume. I thought it was okay, but I preferred his default suit or his FFi1 retro look.

He goes play better in IV, but overall I have more fun with him here. I was just tired with the prison look and was glad they finally got him out of prison and that jump suit. Ironically, Cody's V-Triggger I has his Double Kick from Final Fight. It even takes away health, acting as a mega crush. He's not the first character to do this, as Maki could do it in Capcom VS SNK 2, and Haggar could do in Marvel vs. Capcom 3. With that said, both of his V-Triggers have great combo potential. It's a bit awkward if you're used to IV, but it did not take me long to get used to him.

There has not been a VF game in over 10 years now. I know about the announcement, but we will wait and see, if it's a new installment and not remake/reboot. I still have my 360 copy of 5 and PS2 copy of 4.

Bryan's always been my main in Tekken. The OG, leopard print, DnB blaring, Bryan from T3 was the best. Not top tier but I've played him for so long its second nature.

I was always partial to Blanka in Street Fighter, just always thought he was a blast to play. Plus, it used to piss off my brother when I did cheap shit with him.

Can't remember the dudes name, but I used to play a lot of Soul Calibre and the Egyptian mummy looking guy was always by favourite. Not that I was ever any good at it.

I’m mainly a Tekken man, so here goes.

Jin and Kazuya, Tekken 5:

I had played 4 the most since it was out on PS2 and gotten used to the way they worked, and I liked Jin’s traditional (Shotokan?) Karate rather than the Mishima-ryu and JiuJutsu mix he had in 3. Tekken 5 gave him a few new moves and made everything a bit snappier.

Kazuya plays largely the same but in 5 he feels like there i more ‘snap, crackle and pop’ to his (and everyone else’s) technique.

I tend to always enjoy the final version of the chars in things I play because the games get more refined and polished as they go and that applies to the character too. Even if a version was stronger in an earlier balance, it's usually less fun or complete in some way.

Though I mainly play aridashers which tend to be roughly similar from version to version of the same franchise, as opposed to having drastically different sequels like how the numbered SF games differ from eachother.

And in games which DO have such sequels, like for example going from GG AC+R to Xrd, I tend to either not even have my old main available to compare, or I pick a brand new to that version character for my main.

Oh and out of every capcom character, my fav version of all of them is either darkstalkers 3 for the chars of that franchise, or tatsunoko vs capcom for the other ones.
