I know of at least one just cause of the stir it caused.
Amélie Wen Zhao's novel, Blood Heir
God, I remember that.

You can add The Continent to the list.

Also, there was some YA book on Kosovo, and people tried to cancel it because it had a Muslim antagonist. The irony being that the author tried to cancel former works beside.

It's also beyond YA - take American Dirt for example.

And to clarify, I don't believe that any work is above scrutiny, but, well, I'll put it this way. If you're criticizing American Dirt for depicting Latino characters poorly, that's absolutely fair criticism to make. If you're criticizing the book on the basis that the author isn't Latino? That's another story (no pun intended).

You have to be a slave of the right wing media to believe any of these are more than the weakest of smears.
They're outright lies and just failing to uphold her principals without any real admission or comment on them. Considering it's a pattern it's not merely some weak smear considering how organised and the effort put into the lies in some cases. E.G. getting a crowd of other people, finding a location and having photographers take pictures at specific angles to hide the truth.

1) She was born and lived in the Bronx to early childhood, her extended family stayed there so she remained familiar with it, she went there after college. That's good enough. And I bet she didn't actually lie about her school.
2) You've got to be neck deep in right wing cloudcuckooland to have even heard of this smear. Turns out it's long since been debunked anyway.
3) Seriously. A hoodie with some polyester in? 😂😂😂😂
4) This claim amounts to a straw man, largely built on right-wing social media lies. Again, symptomatic of being excessively reliant on right-wing propaganda as news.

Seriously, you could not make her look better than bringing such pitiful dross up as evidence of her flaws. All it tells us is you've got nothing.

1) Yeh no she wasn't schooled in the Bronx nor really grew up there.
2) When you see from some of the other angles. It's a parking lot.
3) When her whole thing is pushing the green new deal and even other clothes she has on her personal brand store don't have that? That's a hell of an oversiht.
4) AOC literally went on Livestream to talk about how her life was in danger

They're outright lies
Yes, they are. Do you ever feel shame?
....

But the claim that got the most attention, pushed by viral conspiracy and junk news websites, made unfounded accusations that the photographs of Ocasio-Cortez were fake and that she was actually crying over an empty parking lot. Russian state media outlet RT and ZeroHedge were among junk news sites taking a cue from Alex Jones’ InfoWars network in that regard. The latter posted an unfounded story on June 24, 2019, that posited the “empty parking lot” conspiracy theory.

“The photos show an emotional AOC holding her face and appearing to cry. Her attention appears to be directed towards whatever is on the other side of the fence,” InfoWars reported. “However, a photo from a different angle shows there is nothing there aside from an empty parking lot and some police officers.”

The conspiracy theory was a low-effort jab that required viewers not ask what lay just beyond the camera lens or seek out additional, readily available information about the event. Police weren’t guarding an empty parking lot, and the photographs weren’t newly uncovered.

The photographs touted by InfoWars were in fact those shot by Aguirre, who posted them on his Twitter account one year prior to InfoWars’ “newly uncovering” them.

The so-called empty parking lot was in fact a roadway leading towards the Tornillo Border Patrol station, where thousands of migrant children were housed in a tent city.

“It wasn’t an empty parking lot; it’s an entrance and we [media and protesters] weren’t allowed to go past that,” Aguirre told us.

He sent us another photograph in which the roadway and the fence blocking access to the migrant camp could be seen:

4) AOC literally went on Livestream to talk about how her life was in danger
And? What is she lying about?

On that day, she said she was in her office when she heard repeated bangs on the door, like someone was trying to get in. Her legislative director told her to hide, and she went into the bathroom.

That was when she heard a man yelling and trying to find her. “I have never been quieter in my life,” she said.

She came out shortly after when her legislative director told her to, and saw a Capitol police officer in the office. She said the officer told them to go to another building, but didn’t say specifically where or escort them, leaving her feeling unsafe.
....
Ocasio-Cortez never claimed she was in the main Capitol building, nor did she claim she was face-to-face with a mob of violent rioters. In an Instagram Live video about the riots, she explained that she was in her office in a neighboring building on the Capitol complex, where she experienced a frightening encounter with a Capitol police officer who she said didn’t announce himself.
...
Seriously, any shame, ever?

She claimed Ted Cruz tried to have her killed.

Also yeh that photo does seem more like a parking lot than any kind of facility.

She never claimed she was schooled in the Bronx. That's just more of your useless bullshit. Other than that, the rest is marginal. She was born in the Bronx to a Bronx family and lived there plenty of time. It's enough.

2) When you see from some of the other angles. It's a parking lot.
What the heck is wrong with you? This parking lot claim is literally debunked. The photojournalist who took the shot affirms she was there at the camp, as do other journalists.

3) When her whole thing is pushing the green new deal and even other clothes she has on her personal brand store don't have that? That's a hell of an oversiht.
It is literally the most pathetic, made-up, weak-arse complaint imaginable. It is scraping the barrel of desperation so hard your fingernails are bleeding.

4) AOC literally went on Livestream to talk about how her life was in danger
As far as she knew, it was. She didn't lie. There's no problem here, just a load of petty, stupid hate and disinformation from the sorts of people you hang around with.

yeh no. I've already shown some of the stuff she got up to.

Here's her on about how she's a girl from the Bronx despite not actually growing up there

Also she was talking about the events after said events so she knew she likely wasn't in real danger.

Also how is it pathetic when her principal around the Green New deal is to use less oil and gas then uses it for clothing when she already has other lines that don't?

Can I ask, like Kwak: do you have any shame?

Do you not realise clinging onto this feeble stuff diminishes you and other AOC opponents by making you look even more petty and pathetic? They might be handy talking points in whatever far right, red pill echo chambers you obviously frequent, but they're worth jack shit outside. Especially where you demonstrate you couldn't even manage a bare minimum of due diligence in fact-checking.

Only getting half the conversation, due to the ignore function, but it prompts me to recommend the ignore function.

EDIT: Oh, and now google is offering me "Ginny and Georgia" (which apparently is the sort of show that thinks slut shaming Taylor Swift is funny) when I type in gi instead of "Gina Carano", so I guess she's not famous anymore.

In more Gina Carano related cancelation news.

They're trying to cancel Henry Cavill because he dated her a few years ago............

I wonder if Henry Cavill is in the firing line because of the new black Superman movie from JJ Abrams, people going through his history to see what they can use against him. A case of destroying the old Superman to make way for the new Superman.

Lmao. Ah yes, the well known habit of smearing the previous actor of a character just because they are white, to make way for a black actor. I remember this technique since the famous Chris Evans smearing once Michael B Jordan took over on Fantastic Four. He was well and truly cancelled, if I remember correctly. Sad story indeed, for the long gone Chris Evans. *Plays mournful patriotic music*

Well...David Hasselhoff was Nick Fury before Samuel L Jackson. The decline in popularity of Knight Rider might be due to that.

That's hardly a valid comparison. There was an eight year gap between the Chris Evans and Michael B Jordan Fantastic Four films, and a clear line drawn between those movies. On the other hand though Henry Cavill is the current Superman in the DC cinematic universe and will appear in the imminent Zach Snyder cut of the Justice League. He could potentially play the character again in a future movie. I'm sure there will be some people who will see him as a threat to the success of the black Superman film.

I didn't say Henry Cavill would be cancelled either, I just speculated that he might be a target for the usual unhinged morons on twitter and in the media. He's already taking shit for not congratulating the first Latina actress to play Supergirl or something like that.

Jesus "Oh stop caring about the obvious hypocrisy and bullshit but remember ted Cruz something something something extremely petty yet also not at all going aginst any stated position"

Also I've kinda pointed out how you couldn't be bothered fact checking either lol. Or just outright dismiss obvious cases of a person going against what they claim to stand for with "Oh it doesn't matter it's petty stuff". AOC keep playing partisan stuff not progress because actual progress would mean accepting failure, learning from them and working with people she may not 100% align with instead of accusing them of trying to have her murdered to score political points.

It seems more like you're upset the tactics that work inside your echo chambers aren't being allowed to work here and are having to resort to ad hominem rather than salient points.

He's a PC Gamers whose not been shown to "Bend the Knee" so to speak to the mob or be overtly marching to the tune they want. Hell part of it is they might even think he's still friend with her and are trying to isolate Carano more by trying to force him to make statements that they can then send to Carano to mock her or pretend he was knowingly taking shots at her.
