You didn't see my post with MechaGodzilla seen in Godzilla's eyes at the end of the trailer?
14 posts later I saw that yes, but you didn't state that in the original post, so I assumed it was just a secondary point being made.

Also, how is that a doomsday? Are you referring to the utterly shocking and totally predictable "twist" whenever a movie pits 2 heroes against each other, to ultimately reveal there is an actual villain behind it all? Is that "the doomsday" ? Because that's not really a unique thing. Pretty much EVERY story that does that, ends that way. "Oh look, Hero A and Hero B are fighting! But wait, there is actually Villain X to worry about! They will stop fighting and join forces!" Is pretty much THE trope for this kind of story. Long before BvS, which I what I'm guessing you are referring to when mentioning doomsday.

A reminder that Godzilla and King Kong began as Black and White films.

Also King Kong 2005 had color but it wasn't this rainbow of neon shit that looks like a holiday event in Fortnite.
It would be cool if they did a short throwback scene in B & W as homage to these characters’ origins. It could be stylistic but also play into the aftermath of destruction theme.

We must be watching very different films, as I'm not seeing that so much myself. Having said that, I tend to avoid, Snyder (agree about his misuse of colour from what I have seen), Bay, or the MCU or DCEU
Bay still uses the greasy orange/blue since Bad Boys II & Transformers. The DECU started adding color after Zack Snyder stepped down for a while, with Aqua Man, Shazam, and Birds of Prey being the most most noticeable. We won't count the theatrical cut of JL and Suicide Squad (2016) since those were originally supposed to have grey/brown muted palette and were changed to be more colorful in post due to complaints and production troubles, etc. The MCU varies. All of the films ain't super bright nor super muted, but Disney plays it too safe with the colors that not alot stands out. It's the most noticeable with a majority of the phase 2 films. Though the semi-cold tone palette for Winter Soldier fits well for the spy thriller genre the film is going for. Just look at the Avengers games from 2020 and you will see what I mean. The most colorful films from the MCU are Thor Ragnarok, Far From Home (though Spider-Verse beats all of the SM films in color) and Black Panther.

I reckon Guardians of the Galaxy was pretty colourful, Vol. 2 especially.

Yeah if you are just talking about actual color spectacle on screen, Doctor Strange, both GotG films, Thor: Ragnarok, all stand out as embracing actual colors in their films. I don't really recall the Spider-man films standing out as being super colorful, they just felt, you know, normally colored. Not like someone intentionally aimed for browns/greys as the dominant color scheme.

This thread title annoyed me. I don't blame OP but like literally every fucking nerd news outlet thirsty for that clickbait was like OMG MECHA GODZILLA. Like "dude can you please shut the fuck up and up and let me just enjoy this?"

On topic, yeah I watched it tonight on the big screen and admittedly I was a little annoyed at how they, rather than analyze user user feedback, took the exact opposite approach to the previous films, and filmed from every angle that would not give you the monsters scale and removed every effect so that you never miss a monsters detail.

They pretty much did the opposite of audience complaints so now the scale seems less intimating. typical hollywood. Oh well I still enjoyed it.
