Lee Lin Chin Retires from the SBS

I remember watching her as a kid when she appeared in news updates before and during shows I'd recorded late at night. I always found her droll as fuck and more than a bit dull so this "irreverent" and "cheeky" is news to me. I wish she'd injected some of that into her monotonous newsreading...

    Darksiders III

It looks a bit silly. Why are her eyes glowing and why does she have a tail?

What do you think of pop music?

Pop Music is a brilliant satirical, neo-dadaist take on the desire-based values increasingly permeating the modern western world. What is unique about this vibrant and dynamic art-form is that it takes both its audience and creator unawares, almost taking on a life of its own by manipulating the...

    Returning Members

I'd like to see more focus on games. I know that sounds silly on a supposed gaming site, but rarely do I see videos and articles on the games that I actually play and am interested in, which are actually about those games. Jim and Shamus used to provide some interesting insights on design...

    2018 in gaming so far....

It's been a pretty poor year so far. Best would be Far: Lone Sails and Orwell: Ignorance is Strength. Lake Ridden and Forgotten Anne were okay and of course the last few chapters of Pillars of the Earth. Other than that, not much of interest.

    Trans representation in gaming

It sounds like this guy has never played an adventure game before. LA Noire wasn't anything new except in the area of graphics. I don't play violent games or big budget AAA games and I'm left with plenty of options.

    Trans representation in gaming

Here you are not talking about identifying with a trans person, but identifying with a trans person as a trans person. That is to say, relating their particular life circumstances as they relate to their lived experiences of seeing themselves as and being seen as trans. But games do not do...

The Amazon Lord of the Rings TV series found its writers.

Forget LOTR, Silmarillion is perfect for a TV adaptation.

    Trans representation in gaming

If they are heavily sexualized (as female) shouldn't that make it even more difficult for males to identify with them? The point is, it is possible to relate to someone of a completely different sex/color/orientation. We're all human, we all have feelings, our own worries, troubles and...

Male sexual conduct and the testosterone curse

I think stroopwafel is seeking to explain, rather than excuse, rape. That said, I thought the motivations behind sexual assault had largely been established to be about power and not sex. That would seem to be an equally good if not better reason why males with their larger egos are the chief...

    Poll: Movie Bob rehired?

So where are the African movies? There are burgeoning film scenes in Korea, Iran, Indonesia - where are his reviews of those movies? There is currently a renaissance in independent LGBT cinema - where are his reviews on those films? He needs to put his money where his mouth is. If he's going...

    Trans representation in gaming

It would be nice if that could happen, but it would be nicer if people could feel good enough about themselves without needing to see their own particular set of personal characteristics represented in a game in order to feel validified as a person.

Can someone explain the appeal of Rogue-likes/lites to me?

Well, every game has exploration and discovery, and replayability is such an overrated value. There are so many games out there, way more than anyone could play in a lifetime. Why should I care if I can't replay a game? Randomization in a game indicates laziness and a lack of creativity.

Things you used to love that you now hate

I hate them now too, but for the opposite reason. I have no idea why I used to try and scare myself watching those things. A kind of self-punishment maybe?
