Deadly Premonition - all the combat parts, seriously. MAFIA - the racing mission, cruelly difficult. MGS4 - The boss fights, I'm probably in the minority but I found them to be tedious and wanted them over with quickly.

That wasn't too bad I thought, you more or less had to memorise a certain sequence of attacks then its as good as dead. It took me ages to figure out how to dodge its attacks from above though.

I'm surprised that so many are claiming Silent Hill has poor gameplay. I mean I haven't played any of them, but is that what the appeal was the whole time then - the story?

Bingo! That was my prime example - actual poor gameplay, not even medicore, just flat out bad. But heck it was one of my games of the year last year.
