99.9% of the time when someone starts a thread with 'am I the only one who...' the answer is no, this is no exception.

Being a soldier is only admirable if you are in a just conflict. People talk about 'serving their country' but in actuality in most cases today they are only serving the elite few at the top.

Why would that be any better? If you don't like the later novels (as I don't) then just ignore them. It doesn't make the earlier ones any worse.
