Get a Look at the First Images of the New "Ataribox" Console

I wonder if the controller is going to be true to the Atari heritage, as well.

Beyond Good & Evil 2 Demo Shows Off 14 Minutes of Gameplay Footage Hosted by Michel Ancel

That kinda reminded me of that procedural planetarium toy, SpaceEngine. That thing's developer created a very impressive engine for rendering planets, atmospheric effects, indirect lighting that made effects like planetshine and nights brightly lit by full moons and planet rings possible. The...

Question for fans of Beyond Good and Evil, the first one

I was kinda put off by all this Dr. Moreau explanation for animal people. BGaE has always felt to me like this sort of a sci-fi fairy tale, where aliens just happen to look like bipedal cats and sharks and rhinoceros...es, and this new backstory almost feels like trying to explain the Three...

Michel Ancel Says Beyond Good & Evil 2 is at "Day Zero of Development"

So basically what we have been shown is just another teaser without anything bahind it, like the ones we have been fed over the previous 15 years? Basically, no progress at all?

7 Ways Assassin's Creed Origins Is Changing For The Better

Gotta agree with the other commenters on the assassination vs boss battles issue. The first AC did feel like an assassin game, even if the whole info gathering and infiltration phase was just a string of linear missions. Maybe giving the player a bit more freedom on how to approach and...

Beyond Good & Evil 2 Shown Off at Ubisoft's E3 Presser

My thoughts, basically. I jumped a little when I saw the Ubisoft Montpellier logo, but when the monkeyman started swearing like a dock worker, I was like, "Nah, no way this is BGaE." The BGaE I remember was a sweet little tale straight from French comics, but this is way too edgy. But hey, I'll...

Valve Sets Steam Direct Publishing Fee at $100

I believe we as consumers can manage to collectively bear the added cost of $100 Steam submission fee. It's not that much money, even for a reasonably small indie dev. Asset flips will probably be rendered unfeasible when you have to pay this much to submit a game to Steam, but an actual game...

Valve Sets Steam Direct Publishing Fee at $100

I don't see how charging $5-10 more can really help the sales of a game. In my opinion, the dev would rather shift as many copies as possible, especially if a $100 is so much for them it is going to seriously impact their bottom line.

Kerbal Space Program Acquired by Take-Two Interactive

I have a feeling now that I must've been unfair to Squad and especially the new devs. The communication situation has improved very much lately, for one thing. And personally I find the new DLC quite promising. It will include features that probably couldn't be modded in, like the Mission Editor...

Kerbal Space Program Acquired by Take-Two Interactive

Well game development is not Squad's main gig - they are mainly a marketing company. Kerbal Space Program was a side project of Felipe Falanghe who convinced the management to give him resources to develop and publish it. After the success of the game the management decided to invest the income...

Nintendo Announces a New Handheld - the New 2DS XL

I suppose the 3d gimmick era has finally come to an end. Good riddance if you ask me, but I will still miss Bravely Default's beautiful cut-out city panoramas. Probably the most beautiful implementation of 3ds' 3d functionality I have ever seen.

Nintendo Announces a New Handheld - the New 2DS XL

I've always perceived 2DS as this cheap and rugged brick you buy for your kids if you're afraid they'd break the 3DS's clamshell lid off. But this thing actually looks pretty sexy. I'd absolutely get it for myself if I didn't have an N3DS already.

You Now Need to Give Valve Your Telphone Number to Play DoTA 2

Since Russians are required to provide their ID and place of residence when buying a SIM card and seeing how the ISPs are now free to trade personal data without the users' consent, I'd say that does effectively discourage a large portion of the Russian player base from participating in ranked...

    Zero Punctuation: Persona 5

And then there's this bloody cat that keeps making you go to bed early and waste evening after evening that could be spent developing skills, shopping for supplies, or hanging out with your friends. I don't remember previous games being so hand-holdy.

There's Not Much Role-Playing in Role-Playing Games These Days

Bioware games already employ dialogue systems where player characters say things only vaguely corresponding to what you actually choose them to say. Taking control out of the player's hands completely would be a logical next step for them. That would hurt the replayability though so maybe let...
