Just to make it clear (my first post was perhaps too abstract), BF 2142 was my favorite main stream (aka non-modded) Battlefield experience. I thought there was so much room for expansion in terms of its environments and gameplay (Northern Strike started to scratch the surface of this)...

Yeeeeeah, no thanks. Battlefield was dead to me starting after 2s and 2142s servers went offline. Still like the project reality mod but that has very little to do with EA.

I could see it done in a game that does it seriously and not just for wow factor. Though to be honest I don't see developers or publishers having the maturity to handle it.
