Shot markers with blood on people's clothes have been around since, what Goldeneye? I do wonder why they went away for awhile.

Yeah gotta agree there, if everytime I mortally wounded a guy and he started begging, whimpering, screaming for his life etc while blood poured out of him I would probably try to avoid doing it as much as possible as it really wouldn't be a fun experience.
So would it make you want to headshot them more so it's over quickly?

Still, my view in that situation: They weren't going to show YOU mercy, why should they get any?

In related news: Bulletstorm looks awesome.
Yeah defiantly. I could see it being a good gameplay mechanic if it made you want to avoid killing them so you could try being more stealthy instead of just gunning everyone down.

Well idk, I just feel a lot of empathy towards those grunts who are just doing their job and they get assigned to a certain area at a certain time so they end up dead and he could have a wife and kids home and bLahhlhslflejf;jc

this.

if i land a perfect grenade, i wanna see that dude go flying 80 mph into the wall 5 feet behind him, not fall over like he just died from natural causes.

but OT: it doesn't matter to me, cool if its there, otherwise dont care too much.

More gore! Special edition to Gears of War 3 should come with a device to attach somewhere that sprays you with the various types of blood when you chainsaw.

P.S. i am not secretly a psychotic serial killer no matter how much that made i sound like i am or am planning to be.

This is another interesting thing that I've always "WTF just happened" at. Sometimes it looks like they have a heart attack the exact instance the grenade goes off rather than get launched by the grenade. I know that probably wouldn't fly away, Team Rocket style, but you'd think they would at least get launched a good 5 to 10 feet back, right?

haha team rocket style, nice, but yeah i'd like to see the guy react accordingly and get blown back a good 5-10 feet with his arms flailing around trying to catch up with the rest of his body. it would definitely have some lolz occasionally.

but like i said, its not a MUST have, it would be cool if it did happen better in games like fallout and whatnot.

I like to imagine they all work in the same department of Evil Incorporated.

Okay... speaking as someone who has seen a lot of extreme violence up close.

It would actually be pretty uninteresting. Unless, something is done slow and methodically basically you're just going to a splash of blood. I've seen guys pull parts off of each other (bludgeon more than pulled) and it was still nothing that couldn't be cleaned up by a mop. (and hazmat certified specialists)

I'm not a doctor or anything so I can't exactly explain the science of these things just what i've seen.

The goriest thing I've seen was a body that had been left out for a great deal of time.

Decay is what is 'shocking'
What the fuck have you been looking at?

More accurately, you dont want ragdolls - You want fully physically enabled models (I.E. GTA IV, ARMA 2, and a few others i cant be arsed to think of)

I hate realistic gore, it just makes me feel a little ill.

Like in God of War, I don't want to see someone's head get torn off or see a centaurs guts spill out.
Something like Fallout 3 is much better, where you shoot someone and they explode into random bits of blood and steak without any horrifying detail.

I think it really depends on the tone you're going for. Realistic gore in say, God of War, brought out the brutality and insanity of the character, but realistic gore in the next Super Mario Brothers game would not really add anything to the experience.

It doesn't matter to me, but I'd prefer less. It's just more wasteful eye candy to drop my framerates...not to mention there is only a certain amount of things I can take before I don't WANT to play.

I could see it done in a game that does it seriously and not just for wow factor. Though to be honest I don't see developers or publishers having the maturity to handle it.

Absolutely. It's very jarring to impale someone in Assassin's Creed to find that the weapon just clips through their model. I get that there's a technical side to this but unless you're fighting ghosts, it's going to look weird. Especially if the cutscenes have realistic injuries.

[small] And really, if you can't handle some gore you shouldn't be playing a game where you kill people.[/small]

I honestly think that developers should try to keep their focus on gameplay and story, rather than how much blood they can pour over the player.

Although, if you want to see an old game that had location specific damage as well as dismemberment - "Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix" had it all... You could knife someone's hand off for heaven's sake :/

No because the more realistic a game gets the closer to reality it gets and I never play a game to be in reality. I want to have fun not do the same thing I can do in real life or something like that.
