Divergence perhaps, but an interesting read all the same. You took a risk and it worked!

Simply put, both 'terrestrial' and 'extraterrestrial' creatures inhabit the Delta Green universe. It starts off with the growing number of encounters between humanity and the other creatures inhabiting the Earth, a task force (Delta Green) gets assembled who deal with these terrestrial...

I've found that I really prefer personal stories as I grow older...

Perhaps we generally become more...susceptible...to sentimentality as we get older. I would like to think our capacity for empathy improves with age and we're better able to enjoy intimate and emotional experiences rather than just your grand, sweeping narratives of generic themes (good, evil...

So what if it's 'too mainsteam'?

Depends if the artist/band/whatever have tried to (or appeared to) make some capital specifically out of being 'indie'. Case in point: Notch eventually selling Minecraft to Microsoft.

Too early to tell, but it will be interesting to see if they've made any mechanical (as well as narrative) tweaks based off feedback from The Bureau. Am trying to wrack my brain to remember if any X-COM:EU DLC came out after the release of The Bureau... If you're looking for your narrative...

Where do you see yourself in the future?

The same way I do now; with a mirror. But seriously, I see myself getting 'salt and pepper' before I'm 30, a prospect I'm not totally apprehensive about.

Is "Violence in games" to vague to mean anything?

Rage and violence have been (and will continue to be) significant influences across the history of human culture - it shouldn't come as a surprise that games should want to explore these issues. Hatred, however, is hard to see as anything but unadulterated sadism; a less than appealing...

Poll: In Fiction, are you more interested in the mundane characters or the fantastical ones?

It's the secondary characters that always interest me the most. Typically these are mundane (Lando Calrissian in SW, or General Klytus in Flash Gordon), though there are exceptions (Balder in the Marvel-Thor mythos). Might explain why I always prefer playing support-classes. ;)

    Romantic Gestures

For the love of God, write to her. Especially since this is long distance. Chances are by the time you've written one or two, she'll already have a box specially for them. If you want 'cute' things to include in the letter, folded origami animals/figures work well. Most of all the best...

    Escapist Food Thread

Save baking/pastry-making for another day, champ. It takes a bit more practice than your typical 'meal'-cooking to get them right - unless you've got a flair for it, I suppose. What's your cooking/living situation? You looking for meals to eat when you get in from work, eating with housemates...

Only one film pre-1970? Where's your bleedin' heart, my lad!!! Where's your cowboys, war movies and MGM classics? Alrighty, fine, tissues at the ready, boyos! I'm welling up just thinking about some of these...

EMC And DEFY Media Build Searchable Collection of Video Game Journalism

Sounds like a good idea. I still treasure my copy of 'The PC Gaming Reader' book that came as a freebie with a PC Gamer issue back in 2011 so to see something that would make similar content accessible to wide spectrum of people is great. I can understand the subscription-model basis, but I'd...
