Bobular's top 5 most disapointing anime

I think that all anime is disappointing by its very nature. If it weren't about such banal nonsense and focused, almost invariably, on fucking teenagers, I would like it a lot more. Even animes I've liked, which is bloody few, still focus on teenagers. And that is the most disappointing of all...

    In Regards to Wild West

I feel like we've all let humanity down. You've got a goddamn Donald Trump avatar, by all rights you should have been the target of 15 call-outs a week. This is my fault. I knew I should have made a "CM156 is a wingcuck" thread. I blame myself.

What is the easiest AAA game you've played since 2005?

Borderlands 2 is one of the easier games I've played. The combat is quite forgiving, the learning curve is shallow, and there's a DLC class (the Mechromancer) that features a no-clipping murder-bot and ricocheting bullets. If you don't want to buy DLC, then there's a class (the Commando) with a...

    Best game music.

Gotta go with Mass Effect 1 & 2. ME1's soundtrack perfectly complements the game's events. Jack Wall killed it. Best part of that game was the music. And the Suicide Mission track from ME2 was exactly what it needed to be. I'm pretty pleased with all of ME2's music, though.

    Some design choice you question

I tend to view the invincibility frames as a workaround necessitated by the buggy dogshit that was/is the Souls engine. This is the engine that has trouble telling if you're behind an unaware enemy, how is it supposed to know if you're out of the way of a big fuckoff demon ax? After a while...

Toys R Us is now closing all buisness.

You raise an excellent point. Hastings Entertainment (known for Tradesmart) did the exact same thing and folded a year ago. It's almost like corporate mismanagement is a larger threat than the internet. Ha! Brexit. Sucks to be Brit - Huh? NAFTA what? Withdrawal? Oh. That's what that's gonna...

Toys R Us is now closing all buisness.

It was a trend. And Toys-R-Us failed to acknowledge the trend when it mattered. Now that it's the norm, they're 30 kilometers deep into the hole they dug themselves. I can't say I really have many fond memories of the stores. My parents didn't buy me that many toys and when they did, there...

Some Pre 2000 PC game recommendations

If you like strategy games, the Homeworld series comes to mind. You can buy the Remastered version through Steam, it comes with the original, unaltered games. Homeworld: Cataclysm is available through GOG. The X-wing series also comes to mind. X-wing is great, TIE Fighter is better. Again...

    Outdated game design

That is rough. I haven't played the game, but I'm guessing, purely based on the Steam description, that the infuriating retro design elements are intentional because nostalgia. It does look like a lot of fun though. You know, it's funny you mention that. I hit "post" and right after I...

    Outdated game design

Honestly, what's the meaningful difference between a health bar on a limb and no health bar? Every game uses a numeric damage system, some just don't tell you outright. I find this to be one of the more egregious sins, it's like the game is telling you "never use these characters." But I...

Poll: Zoomed Hipfire vs ADS: Which do you prefer?

Verisimilitude. If an FPS doesn't give me ADS, it feels like I'm being reminded it's a game. That's why I think there was the push to have iron sights in Fallout NV (and a couple FO3 mods that always broke the game). Especially when you can see the sights on the guns and you're left to wonder...

Poll: Zoomed Hipfire vs ADS: Which do you prefer?

Oh, come on. Read the words he wrote. "Equivalent." OTS and ADS are (obviously) not identical, but they do the same thing. It's fine-motor versus gross-motor coordination. Besides, it's not like there's more than a handful of games where the sights make a difference. I think the real question...

    Outdated game design

One word, my friend: Money. All that cool stuff requires time and skilled programmers, artists, and animators. Which, ultimately means money. Unless the game is purely combat focused, that's a lot of time and money to spend on just damage models. Health bars are a much easier way to show damage...

Poll: Zoomed Hipfire vs ADS: Which do you prefer?

How many FPSs uses zoomed hipfire? In most cases I've seen, an FPS will either have ADS or no zoom/precision aiming at all. The reverse should also be asked: How many TPSs use ADS? Most opt for zoomed hipfire.

    Poll: PEANUT BUTTER!!!

Because you don't want to annihilate whatever you're spreading the peanut butter on? That's the reason I usually opt for smooth peanut butter. Crunchy peanut butter mixed with curry powder and coconut milk makes instant peanut curry sauce, so I keep both around.
