Yeah, you're kinda right. You have to be either a big fan of TES or a big fan of realm vs realm / PvP. I'm both so this game is worth every cent. However, I can see why a lot of people wouldn't be able to get into it.
Honestly, I'm totally cool with ESO filling that niche. So many gamers...
You have officially made me super excited for Wildstar.
OT: ESO is flawed yet still fun. I'm going to play it like most MMOs I've played since WoW. I'll get a few months of enjoyment out of it then move on. I don't really see that as a bad thing.
Seriously. A concept isn't enough for the community to make an informed choice.
Personally I think Valve should merge Greenlight and Early Access. You can put your game on Steam for no cost. People can download and play it. However, you cannot charge money for it until enough of the community...
I think it goes well beyond our industry too. It's a societal problem really. A general move to massive deregulation over the last 3 to 4 decades. While I think over-regulation can be a serious problem we're not even close to that.
You have yet to provide a "why".
I'm advocating for maximum consumer power. Having Valve tightly control what's being sold isn't empowering to the consumer because of lack of choice. We've been there and done that. Having Valve allow any game under the sun to be sold isn't empowering either...
Sure, but you're still missing my point. The game being shitty doesn't make it a scam. Not being functional or having a fraction of the content its promises (early access isn't an excuse) makes it a scam.
It's an important distinction.
Is it being sold? Gimme some proof. I know you can't answer that. Steam, sadly, doesn't provide sales figures (this would be another tool the community should have access to). Sure, its available for purchase. That does not mean its selling in any meaningful way.
Do you really think the...
I don't agree with this analogy. The community is the police. Not Valve. Valve is just a supplier of police uniforms and badges.
Having said that, the community doesn't have the tools and resources it needs to police. Valve's failure to supply means the community might get it else where or be...
That's a pretty good argument tbh. I think a standard could be found. Hell, a half hour with a game is usually enough for me.
I don't think it would ever fly though. Too many bigger corporations would lose their shit. Steam's basically giving their customers a mini demo. Extra Credits did a...
That could work. I'm not sure how I feel it tbh. My thing is about drawing a distinction between functionally complete but shitty games versus broken incomplete games.
I don't want anyone dictating what's a shitty or good game to me. Frankly, there's a number of games that most people would...
