300 Director to Develop Star Wars Standalone Based on Seven Samurai

This'd be amazing, but unfortunately Snyder's released a statement denying it to hollywood reporter: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/zack-snyder-shoots-down-report-412336 All the sad-faces :(

Escape to the Movies: Les Miserables

I know this is nit-picky, but it's really not the "Then-a-deers", it's something more like "Then-are-dee-ays". Also, I generally think you're going too far in your condemnation. It had weird pacing (kind of Return of the King style multiple endings thing) but it's not a disaster by any...

Movie Trailers: The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones - Trailer

Robert Sheehan has such a pretty face. That's all I have to say about this.

The Big Picture: Schlocktober 2012: Orca

As someone with a serious phobia of Killer Whales, I think you may have just introduced me to the scariest movie I will ever see.

    The Tao of Ted

I really liked Ted, and I agree that it could be the start of a promising trend, but you should consider the possibility that mainstream audiences (particularly adolescent to early-twenties-males) saw this as "the Family Guy-guy movie", rather than just an interesting original idea.

Escape to the Movies: Expendables 2

Bob, did you honestly just say that you liked the original Judge Dredd? I'm not gonna get all fanboy-ragey or anything, I just honestly can't imagine how anyone could not hate that movie, even ironically its just abysmal.

Silver And Steel and Shadows In The Moonlight

You realise you now absolutely have to make a 16-minute synth drone piece about Mario's hat now, right? Reading this was the first time I listened to Silver and Steel, and now I really want to try the Witcher, great as always Gav.

    Your gaming guilty pleasure/unpopular opinion

Guilty pleasure? Oblivion. I loved that game. I agree that the main quest wasn't very original, and it lacked a consistent aesthetic, but over all I just loved existing in a little insular world, that was so detailed and complete that the player could go anywhere, open any door, wear any armour...

Crucible and Gordon Freeman Saved My Life

Unfortunately, I can't really watch a 40 minute video (I have a crazy slow internet connection) but I have read several articles about what people found so objectionable. Some points I can see were genuine problems with the ending, but some stuff I just disagree with. One point that is too often...

Crucible and Gordon Freeman Saved My Life

I get that you don't want to spoil things so you can't talk about specifics, but I'd be interested to know what you disliked so much about the ending. Speaking as a HUGE Mass Effect fan myself, I still just can't make sense of how an ending that I found so satisfying, if imperfect, has upset...

BioWare Responds to Mass Effect 3 Day-One DLC on Disc

When they say the groundwork for the DLC had to be layed during the development of the core game and put on the disc, aren't they admitting development time/resources were diverted from the main game?

    GameStop Abandons U.K. Stores

I find it interesting the amount of British people who didn't know Gamestop was even in the UK, in the Republic they're huge, way bigger than GAME or anyone else. I could name 6 locations off the top of my head, and they seem to do well enough. Culturally, they are THE game shop in Ireland, they...

    Death Mechanics and Dark Souls

Yahtzee is spot on about how removing control from the player between death and re-spawn is frustrating. It drove me insane in Final Fantasy XIII, there were loads of parts where death would take you back and make you re-watch a cut scene. Obviously I just skipped them but that took vital...
