Zero Punctuation: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Wouldn't touch? Skyrim is the Call of Duty of RPGs. EVERYONE played Skyrim. Just felt like he intentionally ignored the worst of the flaws. I find it hard to believe that he'd just miss them on his first fly-over or neglect to mention any of the things that Bethesda has done wrong lately.

Zero Punctuation: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Anyone else think he was ridiculously lenient with this game? His shtick is that he points out all the flaws in a game but there were so many that he just flat-out ignored. Does he just have a stiffy for any sandbox game that floats his way? I also like how he's critical of other companies...

    Skyward Sword

Yahtzee prompted readers to 'prove him wrong' with this opinion. He said he was only bias against things that were not fun, implying fun is something that can be objectively measured. The problem isn't Yahtzee's opinions...it's the fact that he takes those opinions and does present them...

    Skyward Sword

There are objective ways to determine whether or not characters are dynamic, whether the music compliments the layout and graphical look of the game or not, whether the puzzles or objectives are constructed in a way that gives any player enough information to work with, etc. Games can have...

Well, keep in mind, Yahtzee seems to despise motion control in all of its forms. Which is okay, I guess. Some people just dislike them. But what I especially makes him a poor judge in this case is the fact that he seems far more harsh on Skyward Sword than he was on Red Steel 2, both of...

    Skyward Sword

The way he put it wasn't done very well. A reviewer should never base the quality of a game on how much 'fun' they had. It just isn't a very good justification for when you're judging something. Part of why Yahtzee dislike Skyward Sword is that he dislikes motion controls...and he dislikes...

    Skyward Sword

Eh, I liked her. The fact that she made her statements with such absolute certainty made her seem so cynical...like she was treating Link as an idiot. I didn't find her to be as intrusive as so many made her out to be. Before playing the game, I was under the impression that she interrupted...

    Skyward Sword

It isn't that Yahtzee is bias...it's the fact that he admits his own bias while still insisting that his opinions are objective facts. His entire review came off to me as nothing but a ranting hated for motion controls in general. The fact that Yahtzee leaves absolutely no room for error and...

    Skyward Sword

Yahtzee himself mentioned in the article that he is bias against motion controls...but then he covered that up by saying it's just because he was bias against things that weren't fun. See, he defeated the purpose of admitting bias by then trying to present his personal feelings as absolute...

Why is it that anyone who disagrees with a negative opinion about a Zelda game is a fanboy?

    Skyward Sword

The problem with that is it's anecdotal evidence. I've played the game. I have no problem with the precision or timing of the controls. My sword is held where I want it to be hold. I attack from the direction that I want and it happens when I want it to happen. Any lag that may exist has...

    Skyward Sword

"Reviews are SUBJECTIVE." And yet Yahtzee uses terminology like 'Prove me wrong'. A reviewer shouldn't have to use personal bias or descriptions such as 'I hate motion controls because they aren't fun' to explain their view on a game. You should use as much objective fact as you can and try...

    Skyward Sword

I don't really understand the complaints about Fi. Unlike certain previous companions, I actually found her to be useful. Enemy analysis almost always told me what I wanted to know. Rumors often led me to certain sidequests that I never would have found anyway. She doesn't really interrupt the...

    Skyward Sword

"Yes, I'm biased against motion controls, but that's just a sub-heading of the broader overall bias against games that aren't fun." "Prove me wrong, fans." These are two of the most amateur statements I've ever seen from a reviewer.

The flat-out worst game you have ever played. EVER.

I really have no idea Bioware dropped the ball that hard. I don't think that it should be that hard to create a good Sonic game, but...they just did. It was too easy...the EBA/Quendan-style touch controls were just the same every time and really only ended up becoming a mandatory chore...
