Poll: Doom or Duke, Which Do You Prefer?

I had a lot more fun playing Rise of the Triad than either Duke or Doom. But between the two, Doom was the more enjoyable game because it had better pacing and more originality.

Escape to the Movies: Star Trek: Into Darkness

Well that just saved me $20. I figured that this movie was going to be like that; now I have confirmation. The only way I can enjoy this movie now is drunk, so I'll have to wait for video. I think I'll go watch the Wrath of Khan now instead. Thanks, Bob!

To many depressing threads, What are you good at lets hear it!

I'm a pretty good engineer when it comes to tying together cross-disciplinary knowledge, and also at troubleshooting things that are broken. I'm also handy with an epee.

    Skyrim. R.I.P. Companions.

R.I.P. Nvidia 9600 GSO. The dust on your heat sink was too much, making the strain of Skyrim too great. You will be missed replaced.

How do you drink your black tea?

Earl grey with just milk. I used to drink it with just honey, but I think it was coloring my teeth and contributing to cavities.

The most obscure game you own.

Perestroika for DOS. It's an arcade game that was a satire on Soviet politics after the fall of the Berlin Wall. You can play it here.

Knights of the Old Republic made me enjoy Blackjack more. On my last trip to Reno, I won $200.

Poll: Evolution and the other side

Because every once in a while, you'll actually get through to someone who was raised (or indoctrinated) in a hard-core fundamentalist/creationist environment for 18 years. Then that person will have an epiphany and be inspired to do something cool, like go to a university and pursue a PhD in...

Most embarrassing death you've experienced in a game?

My second time playing Team Fortress 2, I joined some kind of Last Man Standing (one life per round) game. Not really knowing anything about the game, I just ran around until finally it was down to me and a Heavy on the other team. I still had no idea what I was doing as soldier class, so he...

    The fun facts thread.

There was once a natural nuclear fission reactor, found in Oklo, Gabon. It was discovered when the uranium ore mined there showed that it was partly depleted. It started 1.7 billion years ago and ran for over 200,000 years.

    Reccomend me a book

Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson. Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. Brave New World by Aldous Huxley. Both Douglas Adams and Terry Pratchett get my enthusiastic support as well. I don't recommend Atlas Shrugged, but if you want some Ayn Rand that tells a similar story in fewer pages, read...
