Poll: Which Game Do You Think Deserves GOTY?

Personal GOTY is Undertale partially because I'm an indie hipster and partially because it's been a while since I've genuinely enjoyed a game that much. AAA-GOTY is Witcher 3 though, MGSV runner up although that's only because I haven't played Bloodborne.

Undertale Review - The Pinnacle of Classic RPG Storytelling

Two months actually. But hey, anything to boost that Metacritic score. Anyways, I also agree with this: The game bypasses the normal hallmarks of RPGs like grinding, or equipment and state micromanaging in favour of more of an action bullet-avoidance thing that I personally really loved...

OK, let's choose our GOTY and our biggest disappointment of 2015

GOTY: Undertale. It might not be as mechanically deep as some of the AAA-games this year, but when some 6-8 hour indie game manages to consume my thoughts for almost 2 months I have to give it GOTY. I recommend everyone try it, you probably won't like it as much as I do but it's a fun little...

Undertale May Be This Year's Best Written Game

I'd point out the designated judging character only *really* calls you out as a bad person if you get super far into the murder thing, or kill a character who can't kill you and explicitly tries to spare you. Also... <spoiler=Genocide Run Spoilers>the game doesn't tell you that, Flowey does...

Undertale May Be This Year's Best Written Game

Honestly his comments are so perfect it makes me wonder exactly how much he knows about the run. Cause it's main highlight is how it deals with that problem of "you have to do it to see all the content."

The Reason You're (Not) A Console Gamer

So many console arguments are so foreign to me though. Like, I own a console (a Wii U, I don't know if a PS4 is much easier), but accessing that console requires me to get, walk over to the living room, bend down, find the disk I want to play, enter the disk, turn on the console, wait for it to...

Poll: Is a game that can be completed in a single day/session a bad game?

No. At worst it's a bad value proposition. For example, if Portal (the first one) was originally sold standalone for $500, it would be an awful value proposition and consumers wouldn't buy it. It would still be a great game though.

    On Being Deliberately Offensive

Yeah but if I wanted to see Ser Ramsay "Satan" Bolton, Fuhrer of the North get killed because the plot finally deciding to drop his plot armor after eating a million babies, I'd watch pretty much any other fantasy series with a binary morale spectrum. GoT normally was a bit more nuanced in this...

    On Being Deliberately Offensive

There was a great post on the book's Subreddit which claimed that the show has moved from refusing to cheat to help the good guys win to cheating to make the good guys lose. I liked the idea of good-intentioned characters losing because of their own tragic flaws, but contriving unrealistic...

    On Being Deliberately Offensive

I thought that rape part fit the universe, I just thought it was regressive character development considering how much time they spent finally trying to make Sansa an active character last season. They seemed to be hyping up giving Sansa some actual agency in the plot before immediately going...

Poll: Stannis vs. Daenerys - Better claim?

Going by CK2 rules: Stannis. Robert took the title from Whats-his-face Targaryen using what I assume would be a fabricated claim or an invasion casus belli, then he died. Assuming the Iron Throne uses Agnatic-Cognatic Primogeniture succession law, the title would pass to his eldest son, but...

Poll: You guys believe in luck?

I'm not sure if you're asking asking about the existence of fate or some other kind of cosmic order, or if you're asking whether people's lives are more determined by chance (in the "too many variables" way) then by free will. If it's the former, no. The chances of any single one improbable...

Steam Now Offering Refunds "For Any Reason"

The first reason is exactly what Valve's trying to avoid, people buying games only to return them when they're bored of them. The second reason you would know of within the first two hours of launching the game, and the last one you would probably know of withing the first two hours of launching...

Why is The Witcher allowed to portray heterosexual male sexuality while Kojima gets grilled over it?

Alright, let's be real here. Kojima's stories are entertaining, but they're not high art. The man can't actually write plots beyond throwing together the standard war is bad cliches and tying them up with sci-fi nonsense. Again they're entertaining, but not exactly a "meaningful and provoking...

Do people dislike the Xbox One because of what it is or the functions it was supposed to have?

I'd probably concur with these sentiments. I visit a bunch of somewhat diverse gaming boards and pretty much nobody talks about the Xbone. Plenty about the PS4, plenty about PC gaming, and even a bit about the Wii U, but nothing about the X1. I'd guess it's because the X1 pretty much shares...
