to be fair, one of the later episodes reveals that he's a fairly competent xenobiologist, its just that alien medical knowledge doesn't translate well to humans

Right, because realism has always been the ultimate gauge of good storytelling. I bet all the best, most critically acclaimed stories throughout history are super realistic.
I think a spin off is something that explores a minor element that has already been introduced in the series more deeply. Like if the next game followed the backstory of a minor character or companion. It's sort of like how Star trek TNG doesn't have any of the original characters, but it isn't...
I suppose I can't speak for everyone, but I can think of quite a few songs from modern games that left an impression on me:

See, I'm okay with that reasoning, It's more just that He's happy at the prospect of xbox failing not because of it being always-on but simply because he doesn't like xbox. I don't like the wii-u but that doesn't mean i think it deserves to fail.
On one hand, I really like pirates and I enjoyed the naval combat. On the other hand, the writing and dialogue in AC3 was horrible. I'm torn on whether I should be excited or fearful.
