Bethesda: People Who Say Graphics "Don't Matter" Are Usually Lying

I have no problem feeling immersed when I play good, older games that by modern standards have awful graphics. I'm not saying graphics don't provide immersion at all, but it's not the only way, and it's not even the best way. What it is is the most marketable and expensive way.

Dragon Age II Q&A with Lead Designer Mike Laidlaw

I just want to say that I loved the demo. I also like this interview, if only because now I know to just start on Hard.

The Rumors of Batman: Arkham City's Multiplayer Are Greatly Exaggerated

Co-op would be terrible. Stealth sequences just wouldn't work. Glad to hear they aren't shoehorning it in.

CBS Acquires Minority Report-like Show From J.J. Abrams

Minority Report wasn't really about preventing crimes before they happen, that was just the background that enabled a story that examined the morality of punishing people for things they haven't done yet. Obviously that was diluted in the movie, but the core of the PKD story was definitely still...

Torchwood Creator Walking Away From Sci-Fi

Indeed, Moffat taking over as head writer for Doctor Who was great news.

    Trailers: XCOM Trailer

A remake would be great, actually. The original games are old enough and complex enough that they're actually hindered by the tiny resolution that was available to them. When I play them now (which I still do sometimes) the actual graphics don't bother me, but the clunky old-school interface...

    Trailers: XCOM Trailer

Still offensive. Considering that it's an FPS, that isn't even possible. Every trailer I watch just makes me more sure that this game will be nothing special. They talk about all this research, and squad mechanics, but all they ever show us is one guy fighting with revolvers, shotguns and...

Question of the Day, December 18, 2010

Bots shouldn't be allowed. If you feel like a game is too grindy, then you can go play a different game. What some people see as grind, other people like. Bots ruin the game for those other people. To those who say that a person who bought a game should be able to do what they want, I would...

Woman Missing Some Brain, Is Totally Fearless As a Result

People thinking that a fearless person should be able to avoid danger based on logic are missing something. Yes, logically, you avoid snakes because they might bite you. Why? Because you're afraid of being bitten by a snake. You can go another level, but then it still comes down to being...

Fourth World of Warcraft Expansion Taking the "Continent Approach"

At this point, I'm pretty sure they've used up every major area that's previously been visited in a Warcraft game, so I think it's time for them to come up with something that's actually new. Sometimes it seems like people forget that they do have the right to do that. The seeds of most of the...

Cartoonist Does Star Wars Written By Dr. Seuss

You're spot on with the rhythm, but on the other hand rhyming "be" with "Kenobi" just doesn't seem very Suessian. However, rhyming "know be" with "Kenobi" is. That rhythm of that part bothered me too, but I couldn't come up with a good solution. Being Dr. Suess is hard, especially when you...

The Walking Dead Rises for a Second Season

Great news. Given the quality of the other stuff AMC airs, I had high expectations. The show has been meeting them admirably so far.

Big Fallout: New Vegas Patch Coming Soon

It's funny to me that people blame Obsidian when the bugs are mostly very similar (or identical) to the bugs found in Fallout 3. The one made by Bethesda.

Namco Apologizes for "Inexcusable" Chilean Miner Welcome

Maybe it's offensive because it's lighthearted and fun. I mean, sure, to me that sounds like the best kind of welcome when a large group of people make it out of a terrifying situation without losing a single person, but maybe some people disagree.
