Good for him. This story does sound very similar to the plot of that movie "Fanboys". I think that was its name. A dying fan and his friends travel to Lucas' ranch to try to convince him to let their friend see the Phantom Menace early.
It's strange how quickly the Assassin's Creed series has become stale. It's only been around like 8 years. But they've made around that many games in the franchise during that time.
I feel as though this is just latest in a trend. Video games are a business no doubt and a very large and lucrative one at that, but I think that money making shouldn't come at the expense of fans. At least, fans shouldn't have to completely finance the game when there's already publisher money...
