Escape to the Movies: The World's End

No, the other town it was filmed in, Letchworth, though they do cut between the two. More amusing that they made a film a bout a pub crawl here as until 15 years ago it was a dry town and there are only 3 pubs here. They had to use the cinema for the night club.

Escape to the Movies: The World's End

Great film, though living in the town it was filmed in made it a slightly creepy experience.

    Master Of Monsters

I grew up watching his films as Sunday afternoon repeats, sorry to see him go, he basically was special effects.

    The Big Picture: Last Starr

Until seeing this I didn't realise BraveStarr was obscure, my brother still has his Deputy Fuzz action figure on his shelf.

The Big Picture: In Defense of Nostalgia

They re-designed the Thundercats!!? I have given up caring about films that try the nostalgia, the A-Team really killed that for me if nothing else before, if I see something that looks a good film on its merits I'll go for it. I think nostalgia has been a political tool long before anyone...

The last movie you saw combines with the last game you played and the last book you read.

Super 8 + LA Noire + the justice game? Lawyer representing a gangster turns out to be an alien?

    The Big Picture: Feeding Edge

I think this fails to deal with other concerns. Genetically engineering crops includes putting entirely new genes in which have no history of being in that crop, for examply "anti-freeze" bacterial genes into tomatos. This is a step difference from selective breeding. This may have far wider...

    Tolkien, Overrated?

Although some see him as long winded and overly detailed I like that in fantasy, it makes you feel that its a world thats much bigger than the events its describing which I sometimes feel lacks in other fantasy works.

    Daily Drop: Robot Dog

Awh, poor little doggy, did well for himself though.

Why the Movie Is Better than the Game

I did, perhaps embarrassingly, enjoy the Lego games (up until the sneezing statue problem on Lego Harry Potter) because although they stuck to the films they brought their own addition ellents and puzzles to the games (although a little easy to complete). I still think generally that tie ins...

The Big Picture: Who's Afraid of Captain America?

What happens when a country with a lot of money starts genetically enhancing its champions for this method of settling arguments lets say for example, America. Also, once America has been thrashed by Trinidad and Tobago won't they just decide to invade anyway? Also, we don't want Beckham back...

    Beverages! Represent your country!

I would pick Norman's Conquest ale, but I'm not sure if that counts as English or French.

    GREEDo Shoots First

To be honest I used to care about this but don't any more. George Lucas hasn't made anything I have enjoyed since 1989. I missed the cinema re-release of the original Star Wars so was hugely dissapointed when I bought the DVD box set when it first come out to find Lucas had made changes for...

Question of the Day, October 12, 2010

I agree with this (except the ginger woman), I don't trust writers either. Making a female doctor could fall into the same trap as trying to make the female James Bond (ie Jinx in Die Another Day), you end up with a poorly conceived character trying to hard to be the equivalent to the...

    Rebecca Mayes Muses: Halo Reach

Beautiful song, liked it a lot. Did any one else think it was about getting out away from the game and being good at being yourself rather than being in the game?
