The last thing we watched, cartoon/animu edition

Pokemon: Concierge Not really an anime, but it is a piece of Pokemon media, and the only one (whether anime or game... not really played the games, so doesn't count, I suppose) I've really been bothered to watch all the way through. Not entirely sure what to make of it, except that I enjoyed it.

Star Wars: Ahsoka... It was... OK. Just more in a drab dribble of underwhelming Star Wars content which was mildly entertaining at times, but terribly dull, all things considered. A few general comments, though: RIP Ray Stevenson, didn't realise he died prior to release, and his character was...

Just as well I saw this, I'm slowly making my way through the first set of four series and it's been a pleasant surprise thus far. I'll be sure to look at Nocturne once I finish it.

Very much so. I knew it was going to be much more a dramatic role for him than was usual, and while I wasn't expecting Inspector Clouseau, I thought it was going to have a measure of dry humour. Despite the lack thereof, it's been excellent thus far.

Finally got around to it, but George Simenon's Maigret, played by Rowan Atkinson. I knew he was an excellent actor, but he was absolutely brilliant in this role, if perhaps a little too melancholy. Granted, it's a British small screen production so everyone speaks with some variety of English...

The Prestige (2006) Pretty good, warrants a rewatch of particular scenes mostly where is concerned. Other than that, David Bowie as Nikola Tesla was genius casting, his part was great, short though it was. Not sure how I feel about removing the framing device from the book, but for duration...

Old games you remember playing, but can't remember the name of

Bit of a long shot, but I'm trying to remember the name of a specific light cruiser which I recall controlling in a somewhat old naval tactical simulator (I'll settle for the name of the game since I'll look around for the light cruiser's name by other means). The game itself is pretty old...

Like a previous post... work, funnily enough. I've been offered (and gladly accepted said offer) to be a writer-on-retainer for a games company who's IP I really enjoy. The missus didn't really get why I was so giddy, but yeah, colour me happy. Another step towards that vaunted, if nonetheless...

    Some good music.

Found this rather randomly, quickly became a new earworm. Only real criticism is that the instrumentals cramp on the vocals somewhat, but it's great, otherwise.

LOL But seriously, no joke... as an example, the screeching Geiger counters in the dark at the end of ep2 was genuinely horrifying, the sound design and how they set the atmosphere were excellent. 10/10 would recommend, but it's difficult to rewatch.

Chernobyl (2019)... not entirely sure what I can express about it. One of the few shows to leave me pretty drained by the end.

    Some good music.

IMO, the better Toccata & Fugue in D-minor I'd post the Passacaglia & Fugure in C-minor, but I already posted that one ages ago.

Thor: Love & Thunder - it was... OK... too much mood whiplash for me to really enjoy it. Gorr was good... so was the handling of Jane's [insert spoiler here] situation, but pretty much everything else? Nnnnnnn...
