Celebrity Endorsements They Wish They Could Take Back

I hope that sentence was worth all the kittens God just killed because of it. :P

Danish Movie Pirate Rats Himself Out

Respect to the guy. Of course, this can go the wrong way and the court might decide in favor of the DRM law, but at least then it will be a clear-cut matter. Otherwise now it's a situation where you have one law encouraging people to make backup copies to protect their purchases, and another one...

Microsoft Denies Banning a Million Users

I can tell you exactly where InformationWeek got their info: http://pinoycosplay.blogspot.com/2009/11/microsoft-bans-600k-xbox-live-accounts.html For your convenience, here's the "article" (posted November 9) in full, just so you can compare the original with what InformationWeek made out of...

UK Devs: Piracy Is a Problem, Doesn't Threaten Survival

So basically what you're saying is that if I download a game from the Internet, I shouldn't even bother paying for it afterwards, since the fact that I have contributed to the total number of "pirates" automatically cancels out any financial gain from my purchase? I can't remember downloading...

UK Devs: Piracy Is a Problem, Doesn't Threaten Survival

Exactly. You can keep looking away and pretending the the world is black & white, that everyone is either a perfectly good citizen or a heartless criminal, but the facts won't bend to your religion - and the facts are that pirates also buy games, that there is no theft unless someone loses...

Modded 360s Flood Craigslist After Mass Banning

Lies. I buy every single game that I find enjoyable enough to keep and wish to support the developers, however I almost never buy any game unless I've had a chance to play it for free first.

Microsoft Bans up to One Million Xbox Live Accounts

Well the Guardian's report is wrong. I challenge you to find a single working modchip for X360 and a single working, end-user-ready homebrew for that modchip. Considering that the entire base of the article is based on misinformation (i.e., the rumors of Microsoft's internal push to get 1M bans...

UK Devs: Piracy Is a Problem, Doesn't Threaten Survival

Yes, of course. Ignore the entire central discussion and just concentrate on the most trivial, nonsensical tangent in the footnote. I'll have to take that as admitting that I'm right. And you are right about this one, I would have to admit I'm a pirate. However, there isn't a single law...

Microsoft Bans up to One Million Xbox Live Accounts

There is no modchip, homebrew or region-unlock for 360, only a DVD drive firmware hack that allows to play copies.

UK Devs: Piracy Is a Problem, Doesn't Threaten Survival

Because it has absolutely no objective basis. That's stealing, though I don't see how that relates to making a copy of something you have already paid for, are going to pay for, or are going to throw the copy out within a few hours. No, but the original owner has to lose it. If you copy...

Modded 360s Flood Craigslist After Mass Banning

There is no region-free for XBOX360s and also no homebrew, the only way and the only reason to mod an XBOX is to play game copies. Also, why is no one mentioning the fact that you can't install games on banned consoles? Or get achievemnts, for that matter (any achievements gotten while...

Microsoft Bans up to One Million Xbox Live Accounts

Funny thing then that I have about 8 original games for my XBOX 360, 1 for the PS3 (and it was bought used), and over 30 (I've seriously lost count) all bought new for my PC.

25 Chicago Students Arrested for a Middle-School Food Fight

I wasn't sure how and if I should send this in as a news item, so instead am just pointing it out here. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/11/11/us/11foodfight.html?_r=1 I'm from a culture (read "poor country where wasting food is mostly unthinkable for all but the wealthiest") where we simply...

UK Devs: Piracy Is a Problem, Doesn't Threaten Survival

And yet you implied that it is OK to make a copy for a friend or two. I asked you to point out where and what exactly am I justifying. You fail. I have never said it's legal, I have never, not once even implied that it is OK. I'm just pointing out some of the lies surrounding the issue, but...

Microsoft Bans up to One Million Xbox Live Accounts

You don't need Gold to play XBLA, but you do need to be online with the account that you purchased it with. The second the network cable is unplugged, all your XBLA games convert back to demos. At least all of the games I've seen are that way.
