Zero Punctuation: The Witness & Bombshell

Thank you. Yeah, I wasn't disagreeing with you, I was just adding to what you said. Could have been clearer about that.

Zero Punctuation: The Witness & Bombshell

The tutorials are not there just to teach you the rules, they are also there so that you can experiment with them and test the rules to figure them out by yourself. The game is gated away metroidvania style and the knowledge in your head is the key to unlocking shortcuts and access. That lack of...

Underworld Ascendant's Inspiration Engine "Pushing the Envelope"

Looking Glass (the predecessor of Otherside) has delivered before, though. Ultima Underworld, Thief and System Shock are basically cornerstones of the immersive sim genre. If anyone can build a convincing sim, it's these guys.

Life After Doom - Video Games' Visionaries

Pretty much. With Anachronox it's all about the story, though. The combat was fairly tedious even by JRPG standards.

Zero Punctuation: The Amazing Spider Man 2

Derider man, derider man. Does whatever a derider can. Plays a game, any size. Slags off everything he buys. Look out! Here comes derider man. Is he wrong? Listen, bud. He's got bile instead of blood. Does he make forum threads? Take a look overhead. Hey, there! There goes derider man.

    The Language of Game Development

Decent text adventure interfaces are actually not as easy to make as it would seem. A text prompt (with its promise of unlimited possibilities and failure to deliver on it) is inherently scary for new players and there's not a lot you can do to make it seem more friendly (although even a few...

10 Great Things About the Thief Reboot

Dark Souls is still good and Arkane seems still interested in making systemic games. There are still a few middle sized companies that "get it". But yeah, the golden age of gaming seems to have been somewhere between 1998 and 2004 when we got many great titles in rapid succession. There's a...

10 Great Things About the Thief Reboot

10 great things? Really? Let's see... 1) Bank Mission No idea. Maybe. The side jobs, tiny as they were, actually felt more Thief-like than any of the main missions. They were like really small fan missions. There are still T2 fan missions that run circles around them, though (and some...

    Broken Age: Act 1 Review

The only voices that were childish were those of the yarn pals and that was deliberate, since they were part of the nurserypunk aesthetic of the world Shay was trapped in.

    Broken Age: Act 1 Review

It's composed by Peter McConnell and performed by the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. It's absolutely worth it.

    Broken Age: Act 1 Review

Regarding the technical issues mentioned in the review, these are likely to be fixed during the beta.

Elijah Wood Joins Cast of Double Fine's Broken Age

He hasn't worked with DF before, but apparently he's a big fan of Monkey Island. If you liked Elijah Wood, just wait until you hear the guy that plays the wolf character! Jennifer Hale as the ship's computer and all the other characters are quite good as well. Their voice director really...

Elijah Wood Joins Cast of Double Fine's Broken Age

Salaries, basically. Artists, programmers, animators, etc. Also, Indie Fund did not put money in this project. They financed Spacebase DF-9, among other people, and they recouped their investment in two weeks. DF-9 is developed by a different team within Double Fine. Also also, inventory...

    Jimquisition: Children of the Resolution

I don't think it's necessarily true that gaming on a PC is more expensive. I've been saving a ton of money with sales and bundles.
