Samurai Showdown IV is pretty much a better version of III, and the only other of the classic games I'll actually play. III is bad game, and V I don't care much for, outside of some character designs.

On to much more important matters.

Sterling raised a good point earlier this week. No game is for everyone, yet a majority of games are made for everyone in mind. This applies to most people in the world. It is something I know you can agree with @Old_Hunter_77.
In general, sure.

His idea of demos that include the point of the game where many people turn away is intriguing but not really practical- you usually get to that point incrementally which is more than most demos would do. But there are some examples- I remember the demo for Lies of P included a couple of bosses and the last one demonstrated that the game wasn't going to be for me.
Good/fair demos are really tricky and I'm just glad we're getting more of them lately.

Another idea I had was partial returns based on gameplay time. We know Steam allows full refunds for less than 2 hours of play which is great (lord knows I abuse the hell out of that) but when it applies to games that can take 4 hours and games that can take 100 that gets to be impractical in many ways. What if game devs had to include estimated completion times- like the web site HowLongToBeat gives you times for beating the game, another for including all side stuff, and another for completionist runs. What if return policy was based on the fraction of played time vs time to beat the game or something.

Honestly, I rather there be a demo for most games than almost none at all. I have noticed dinners have come back, but it's usually under Steam & Switch and/or an indie game on those services. Both big budget games don't even bother anymore. Or do that whole dumb Beta demo for a multiplayer game.

Today's Hot Takes are provided by the Vidya Games Gamers That Are Gaming The Good Games' Gamers' Gaming Group Session.
Who are you referring to exactly? The wanna be alt right gamers who hide behind politics and try to act as if they actually care about gaming at all?

I refuse to play Uncharted: Lost Legacy, because I hate Nadine. Fuck this character. I've already seen a playthrough, so I already know what happens, and she still comes off as unsympathetic.

Wtf are you talking about? Lol
I asked you first. I'm confused at who you referring to and that's it. If you're not gonna tell me, then i'm not gonna bother with a guessing game of one hundred questions. I'm not trying to be rude, but just tell me what it is or not. I am being genuine here.

Requiring me to decipher a fictional language to solve a puzzle is the absolute bottom of the barrel as far as puzzles go. It's the complete opposite of an enjoyable puzzle. Please, game designers just don't!

What about games like Chants of Sennaar where working out the language(s) from scratch is, in and of itself, the puzzle?

Vengeance Hunters is a good brawler with great combat, but is lacking in the bonuses department, and you score will never be saved, unless you do a complete 1CC. Final Vendetta never did this, and at least has the decency to give the player three different bonus modes after completing the game a few times. VH is a good game, but it's not worth $19.99 as the asking price for 5 stages. There are secret areas and multiple endings, so the developers clearly want you to play all three characters to get their different ending and getting the 1CC as their replay value.

I suggest getting this game on a sale at $14.99 or less. It's still on sale at the PSN store for that price, if anyone is interested.

Git Guders acting up again.

This is my favorite kind of game commentary- the ones that get into the mechanics of it and their subjective experience.
Clair was already on my list but with my recent re-sub to GamePass and Sterling's last two vids, it is now at the top and I'll be starting it tonight.

I mean, if it's that way from the start I probably just won't play it and that's fine. It's when they bury that puzzle 30 hours into the game that's the problem. It's especially bad when you aren't given the resources for a full one-to-one translation and need to decrypt parts or all of it. It just feels like work.

I just find it funny that the collector's edition from niche action games have more value than anything related to these AAA "collector's editions" that don't come with the game, and are over $250 in price. Only for scalpers to buy the damn things, and make them even more expensive and worthless.

No More Heroes III, Oneechanbara Z2 Chaos, and even Killer Is Dead are all have better collector's editions than whatever most AAA could muster during last gen and now. I got the day one edition of NMH III. It comes with the game, an art book, a motorcycle license plate, and a soundtrack CD. It used be $60, but I got it for $20 brand new off Amazon! The Banana Split Edition of Z2: Chaos has gone up in price in some places, but is still cheaper getting it new than Yotei's or GoW Rag's Collector's Editions.
