I guess it's because I am older now, but I still can't believe there are still so many PC gamers who can't get over the existence of consoles. How you can make fun of the PS5 price increases when your RAM alone could buy two base PS5s? The same tired arguments from when I was a child are rapidly becoming even less relevant today. No amount of discounted games from a decade ago will make up for paying twice the amount of a PS5 to get less than half the performance.

And I say this as someone who has no plans to go back to console gaming. But good lord, just use your brains a tiny bit more, and you'll see we're all on the same sinking ship together.
I've long since accepted the "console pleb" moniker with the kind of knowing pride that PC gamers who would disparage us are basically eating the same shit, just with a golden spoon while we're reduced to using our fingers. One argument that's newer to me (mostly because it doesn't affect me) surrounds PC gamers who use controllers? Apparently, PC purists see using a controller not unlike unexpectedly bringing your black girlfriend to your white family reunion. Not sure how prolific that sentiment is, but I've seen a few YT videos where it came up, and the players where effectively shamed for it.

Is God of War: Ascension better than God of War: Ragnarok?

View attachment 14435
Yes for some people or Greek Era only fans. I find it funny, because lots of fans definitely were either ragging on Ascension or didn't think much of it, until the Norse games came out. All of a sudden, they were going out of their way to praise it to high heaven over the norse games. Funny how the opinion poll changes when either too much is changed, or they get mad for not getting the same thing all over again. Pick whatever you want.

I genuinely don't understand why so many people list Resident Evil 3 as their favorite game in the series. I've heard their reasons, sure, but I've played the game a couple of times now, and I just don't see what anyone else sees in it. Honestly, I don't even put it in my top ten.
Of the classic tank controls, RE3 is my second favorite after RE2. the reason why a lot of fans liked this game is because you get to explore a lot more of Raccoon City compared to RE2. In RE2, your only really there for brief intervals or in transition areas. My problems with the third game are the dodge button not really working or working only when it feels like it, and the randomization would the puzzles. Most of the puzzles have their solutions randomized. It's why a lot of speedrunners don't like the original RE3. It's part of the reason why I prefer the RE3 remake, despite having less of the city to explore. The controls are so much better and dodging actually works. and you can actually get items to make it easier to dodge.

PatStaresAt has made a fun of people like this. You'll proudly meant using a controller on console or pc, and will tell the so called elitist to fuck off, or or say that he doesn't care, and to watch somebody else, if it bothers them that much.

It all goes back to the obsession with PC gaming's obsession with min-maxing. Mouse and keyboard is better than controller 99% of the time, but guess what? I don't particularly care about being the absolute best I can be at a game I will play, optimistically, once a month.

This is mostly myself ruminating on this though. I never hated Ascension - there's actually aspects to it that make me lowkey prefer it over GoW3 - but you can definitely tell the formula was running thin. I mainly brought it up because I recently ran through the main 5 games again, and while I always had issues with Ragnarok, the Iron Wood section really kicked me in the stomach in how bad it was. And how even Ascension didn't have a section that completely flat-lined my enthusiasm to keep playing. There's more about Ragnarok that bugs me, but that section is like some of the worst aspects of the game coming together.

I like all the original RE games for different reasons. The first was nice and spooky without being scary and was a great introduction to the campy world. The second did some really interesting things with branching paths, had more interesting story telling and better realized characters. The third was more of an action movie where you felt like you were facing bad odds but could overcome and I loved how it ended with the city just being nuked and Umbrella being dissolved by the government.

For you

Pretty much why people love 3. It has the right combination of action and horror.

The three big things I remember from CV are the ability to point two guns at different targets at the same time, the fixed camera angles accomodating panning shots, and the suprise character switching always screwing me out of items.

It's stupidity and tribalism (ah, but I repeat myself), especially with consoles just being cut-down multimedia PCs these days. Of course, with XBox dropping the "your egg timer is an XBox" campaign and PlayStation pulling back heavily on multiplatform releases, it's just going to get worse.

Are these morons playing racing/fighting games with a keyboard and mouse? Or are such games just "beneath" them?

After playing these games from back to back, I still say Dobule Dragon Revive is better than Rushing Beat X, but both are good games. RBX is more so decent, and has some kinks to work out, but how juggling and combo cancelling work, is freaking immaculate. That is something it does have a bit mover Revive. So far, these are two most fun modern 3D brawlers to have come out and sets them apart from a lot of the pixel brawlers out now. RBX does have a better art style than Revive, but Revive's I don't find bad. A little under cooked in some areas, but not bad.

The PS5 represents the single best backup investment of a gaming platform for any sensible person who is primarily a PC gamer. The platform is strong, it gets great exclusives AND you've got the back catalogue of PS4 games - some of which can be had for less than $5 used - available to you. If by some kind of black magic they ever get PS3/2 emulation working on a Pro, it'll be basically a perfect device.

Could never get into left for dead or it's sequel. Has been jarring ever since cos it gets all this praise from literally everyone and I'm just like more happy playing dying light games instead. Just feels so boring shooting waves after waves of the same old shit. No disrespect intended to valve and fans, as they must be doing something right. Balance or whatever. I just cannae do it cap"n.
