Anybody taking advice from Electric Underground I have to dismiss. Whatever points that douche has are miniscule, andhe's known for just hating on almost anything new or a remake. The only exception seems to be Ninja Gaiden II Black, but that falls under hypocrisy since he kept going on about how remakes are "destroying" the industry.

Guy should just go and buy old consoles and games.
That's easier for some people, more than others. But the second hand market is charging outrageous prices for some of these original games now. Even if they sold well back then or better than well.

Thankfully, the original games are put on most digital stores, or get full on releases in physical form, and majority of them have not been removed. When it comes to remakes, I learned not to let the aggravate me. I'm either interested in or I am not. While artistic integrity is important, I don't make my entire life goal, nor my only personality to be against these or for these. Constantly screaming "ART/ARTISTIC INTEGRITY!!!" really doesn't hold any water when these people are coming off like a screeching banshee constantl, or stepping on people's necks for being interested in a remake.

Have been watching for ten minutes. Yup, soulless. Being a collection of mostly other people's commentary is weird for me, although he does use the original game's interviews and behind-the-scenes to make his points too. I kept wondering if he was finally speaking. I did not realize how much of this game is asset flips.

Original dev interviewee in the beginning makes a very good point that reminds me of what I said only today about a new Metal Gear Solid movie rumor.
There hasn't been a new Metal Gear Solid in eleven years. Solid Snake's last appearance was eighteen years ago. The series was never as popular as Resident Evil and Tomb Raider. I don't think this movie will see the light of day.

Konami are idiots to not keep interest alive with new adventures, like a sequel to MGS4 with a new protagonist and villains, and weird robotics, dealing with current day themes the way MGS1 and 2 did. Remasters (generous word for a port of the old HD Collection) and remakes help in the short term, but they're little more than a band-aid. They don't excite like something completely new. Yet all that the fans desire are more remakes, not realizing they shoot themselves in the foot, lacking the imagination to see beyond.
Also, the collection of shilling in the beginning of the video was disgusting to watch. I've seen this guy posted a bunch of times. No idea why he's so popular.

"I didn't play the original," a bunch of the people who shilled admitted. Well, there you have it. Remake culture in a nutshell.

Crowbcat is a lying biatch and grifter. FTR, Max loves both RE4 games, but still has a preference for the original. You would know this, if you got your head out of your ass Zekey boy, and stop kissing up to grifters who don't give a fuck about you.

Putting words in my mouth again. Max is a fucking idiot. But I never said HE specifically didn't know the original game.

Max is no idiot. He's smarter than your ass. Crowbcat is dumb biatch who lied so hard in his original video for RE4R, had to take it down, because he got lying big time by everyone. Even the griters who would have "agreed with him". Max has made mistakes, but we was never afraid to admit them. He's guy who makes videos about games and games he enjoys with his friends. That's it. I will take him any day of the week over grifters and racist/sexist fuck heads you will kiss the ass of 24/7.

I love the part in the video about the transformations from the original being completely erased by scene cuts (and composites). Along with not being able to shoot ganados through doors anymore, it goes to show how much is lost with this push for realistic graphics.

Some comments from people who actually bothered to watch the video:

The 'Capcom renaissance' is probably one of the most baffling narratives I have ever seen. I really dont get it. Sure their newer games are better than the absolute crap they shat out in the early 10's but they are nowhere near the games they released at their peak.

I guess if you have an army of 'influencers' like the {expletive for dumb person not allowed on Escapist, directed at Maximilian Dood} above endlessly shilling for your new games you can pretty much will anything into reality.
I love the camera section:

Original: this is very different to other action shooter games and the camera was carefully designed to induce a feeling of claustrophobia on the player, we finely tuned it to fit the atmosphere of the game, pretty much every action has a drawback be it aiming or reloading, etc.

Remake: we just slapped a generic third person camera into the game ayyyyy lmao
You have to give it to the guy for sticking to his guns after his first video was raided by a bunch of shills in a very unnatural way.

From an artistic viewpoint the video is absolutely delicious. It really makes you appreciate how the effort put in the original went a long way to make the game feel different. Like using inspiration from real Spanish architecture, the UI, the cards, documents and letter art. The raspy look and the weirdy romanesque ambience.

The remake being an asset flip filled with fog is just LOL. I won't lie, that was an injection of self-esteem and confidence to me. I don't think I'm better than Da Vinci but I do most of my art and assets myself. Never knew that would put me on top of multibillion dollar companies.
>Top comment from the video

>The Japanese soldier who kept fighting 29 years after World War 2.

You can taste the seethe from the remake fans from that comment. It's strange how the remake of all things is a sacred cow you're not allowed to criticize.

All his other recent videos like the comparison between the original Elder Scrolls: Oblivion and it's remasters had never attracted so much ire and most of the comments were more fascinated with how effort was put in the OG compared to the remaster.
I don't know whether the reception of these videos is down to the fact that modern RE fans are some of the most rabid, bootlicking drones I've ever seen, or the fact that RE4R was probably the first time ever Crowbcat didn't pick a low hanging fruit that was already popular to shit on. Probably both. Anyway, just as with the first video, pretty much all of the discourse I've seen online seems to laser focus on the audio levels thing in an attempt to dismiss the video as a whole (which to be fair really is the weakest argument in both videos), while the other 95% of the video is handwaved away with a vague "pointless nitpicks" remark.

Who cares that Salazar looks like a weird granny? Who cares they turned the del lago easter egg into a cutscene? Who cares they neutered all of the transformation scenes? Who cares Ashley's AI is actually way more dogshit than in the original? Who cares a lot of the changes are clearly the result of market analysts pointing at the popularity of TLoU? Who cares they splattered a bunch of yellow paint everywhere? Who cares the enemy voice acting completely lacks the energy of the original? Who cares they relegated the laser sight to two weapons while everything else is stuck with a generic TPS crosshair, abhorrent weapon spread included? Who cares they went overboard in making everything le dark and scary, and actually cheapened the air of unsettlement the original had in the process? Who cares they padded out the game with a bunch of useless busywork? It's more content! Stop being such a miserable nerd and getting hung up on details bro, there's two cakes now!

Always the same song and dance with these cattlebrained {expletive for dumb people not allowed on Escapist}. Diminish and ridicule, no one is allowed to say they had their fill after the first cake and the second one kinda tastes like it rolled off a conveyor belt in an effort to cash in on the first one's reputation.
