While I'm lukewarm at best with the multiverse plot I do like Cloud's development. Or degradation really. We seem to be in uncharted territory with him after the ending
Knowing where the story goes from here i think it really does a better job of showing the gradual take over and corruption of Cloud's mind. The original game tried it sort, but ultimately Cloud just gives into Sephiroth's will during the temple of the ancients and crater sections of the game. Rebirth does a better job of showing the influence taking him over as they get closer to what is actually Sephiroth's goals.

The real question I have is whether they'll give Sephiroth a big revelation or if they'll lean more into Jenova as the true enemy here. Sephiroth is functionally an avatar of Jenova and she's the real villain here, it's never really been about him.

How do you feel about the game overall, the combat, the open world, etc, what would you rate the game on an overall?
Overall I'd say very positive. 8,5 at minimum and 9,5 at maximum depending on how charitable I'm feeling.

I don't really consider the game open world since despite the radio towers the regions seem pretty small and things are mostly linear. I consider that a point in the game's favor though.

Story and characters are mostly good though my prediction of the game putting increasing focus on aspects that don't work so well such as Sephiroth and multiverse did come kinda true. In general things are at their strongest when the focus is on shinra, and Cloud is at his strongest when he's a troubled dork rather than suffering from sephiroth disease.

Combat is real solid with my only complaints being the occasional gimmick fights that largely toss away the combat system.

I think I do like the game more then Rebirth. It simultaneously is more focused while having more freedom.

Let's all stay calm here. We don't want to end up like Roche!

No mention of other platform release at later date; So it probably means either it will be a permanent ps5 exclusive, or jjuuuusssttt maybe pc launch at the same time?
Remake and Rebirth got released on other platforms, Part 3 will do the same.

It will not be a permanent PS5 exclusive and to even suggest it reads as a joke.

Actually according to what the interviews have said about Remake and Rebirth, the timing is set up in a way that all platforms will have been able to play Remake and REbirth so that they can launch on every platform at once. Rebirth comes to Xbox and Switch 2 in June, and they dont want anyone to have to wait long to finish the trilogy.

So i think the current plan is to have Rebirth launch on those platforms, while on the same day (june 5th) Part3 is revealed at Geoff's Summer show, with a release date sometime early 2027, on all platforms.

It's just that I have seen so many news and reports that indicates Sony is slowing down on the PC releases of their games, particularly the singleplayer ones.

So I guess the question is who has more say in the release strategy? Sony or SE?

I personally think SE has more control, since they do not belong to Sony despite releasing the original FF7, FFT, and other games beyond them primarily on the PS platforms

Final Fantasy isn't some joint venture between Square and Sony like Kingdom Hearts is between Disney and Square.

Final Fantasy is wholly owned by Square.

Edit: having said the above, I don't know what kind of funding deal Square struck with Sony.
