Asking because I am curious, but did you play any of Rockstar’s previous open-world sandbox games? The first RDR, GTA series, etc.? And what did you think of them?I bought the PS4 version of Red Dead Redemption 2 shortly after it came out, but sold it after only a few hours because I disliked it. It's the only PS4 game I went through the hassle of selling, due to the launch price. All other PS4 games I bought when they were pretty cheap. I did play through it on PC a few years later, a playthrough that took three years. But think about it. I sold the newest Rockstar game. If I had a PS5 and was won over by the hype and found out that GTA VI sucks as badly as V and RDR2, I couldn't even sell it to recover more than half the money again. 80 dollars lost, or 100, depending on how significant the walled content is.
It also doesn't make sense from business-side, IMO.I just found out that the physical version is coming out this december, but all that means is that they're double dipping. RS claim it's because of spoiler reasons, but that's just stupid, and makes zero sense.
Cutting out the standard and basic features for an extra twenty dollars is still stupid. So no deal.

GTA 6 disc version will reportedly be coming in December, insider claims | VGC
They suggest the ‘code in a box’ version will only be the first production run…www.videogameschronicle.com
Squeezing anything they can because I know people will buy it or double dip. Though they're being blinded by their greed and thinking they're 2 steps ahead of everybody. When they're really only three steps behind and just happen to get lucky to get back to the first step again.TF are they doing?

Beat Vice City a week ago. Liked it. Started with San Andreas maybe the year it came out. Liked it more and know after this Vice City playthrough that I could do a fourth playthrough some day. Found GTA IV and RDR okay, but was less fond of them and haven't played them for many years. Dislike Bully. Far too restrictive, holding your hand the whole time. Always go to the blip on the map. Don't ever try to be creative. Vice City and San Andreas have this problem too, but Bully doesn't even have a structured story. It's aimless and boring. GTA V and RDR2 are too deeply flawed and, even more than IV, pretentious. Mediocre. Rockstar's mission design has not evolved. This Vice City playthrough was often too punishing, but that's better than being piss-easy like their new games.Asking because I am curious, but did you play any of Rockstar’s previous open-world sandbox games? And yes, return/refund policies on video games suck major balls, especially for the physical copies. (Thanks, GameStop!)
I’d say that’s one good thing about digital copies, as getting refund seems to be much more straightforward…. For the most of the time.
Hmm, that seem to be the general sentiment of anyone who actually played those classic titles; Although RDR1, GTA IV, and Bully seemeed to be viewed just as favorably; I haven't got the chance to play any of them yet, so I wouldn't know.Beat Vice City a week ago. They could’ve had more variety in scripted vs player agency style missions. Found the old interview that sort of explains why they did the former.Hmm, that seem to be the general sentiment of anyone who actually played those classic titles; Although RDR1, GTA IV, and Bully seemeed to be viewed just as favorably; I haven't got the chance to play any of them yet, so I wouldn't know.
I wonder if it has anything to do with the mission designs in these older games? NakeyJakey (and I think Dunkey, but I can't find the exact video for it) pointed out how creative you can be with on how to complete missions in older Rockstar games.
GTA V and RDR2? You have to follow a very specific sequence. I think the closest we got were GTA V heist missions where you get to decide the method and the crew for each heist. RDR2 missions were great and all, but other than occasional high or low-honor choices, it asked you to follow specified paths.
Granted, I found missions in GTA V and RDR2 to be amazing, even the more subtle and calm missions (IMHO). And I guess that's what they were going for: "Hey, you don't need to worry about how to approach this problem, we got it all planned out for you!". But it would've been nice to give me more freedom. And if that sentiment truely was the source of these mission designs, then I find it quite condescending.
Anyways, I should probably try out GTA 3, VC, and SA soon. It certainly will help me stay busy until GTA 6 PC port comes out
Yup, this is basically Rockstar’s (really Take2’s) way of not *outright* charging a baseline $100 for the game. They just say to the standard folk, well if you want that extra content it’s there for an extra $20.If you visit Rockstar's official pre-order page for GTA VI, you will see just how much content you get with the ultimate edition:

Grand Theft Auto VI - Rockstar Games
Vice City, USA. Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each...www.rockstargames.com
TL;DR.
There are the standard exclusive cosmetics, hair-styles, vehicle and weapons, and skins for the vehicles. And some bonus mission including the one where you are restoring classic cars...
BUT there are also some shops that will only be opened for those who get the ultimate edition. Standard editions will have those shops "closed" in-game. Kinda feels immersion-breaking to have those shops closed just because you didn't shell out the extra $20.
Of course people on twitter and reddit are screaming on top of their lungs about this. And Of course Rockstar/T2 don't really care, because they know people are gonna buy the game anyway. The question is whether people are gonna go for the ultimate edition or if there will be more standard edition purchases because nobody wants to pay extra (but still don't want to miss out)
Remember when Don Mattrick got shit for his comment about Xbox players who didn't want an always online requirement?Yup, this is basically Rockstar’s (really Take2’s) way of not *outright* charging a baseline $100 for the game. Online retailers are stating that PS5 GTA 6 codes can only be played in the country they're bought
Rockstar Games has responded to backlash over the GTA 6 physical edition having no disc in the box. The publisher has hinted that a physical version of the game will be released at a later date. A gaming insider also claims that the Grand Theft Auto 6 disc version is coming in December after launch.
The difference is they get to still play the same game and the difference between content ranges is $20. Mattrick’s comment was just forgetting about the new hardware altogether, which in hindsight might’ve ironically been a more reasonable choice given what a shitshow the XBox One was. It made the PS3 look like a home run let alone what followed it.Remember when Don Mattrick got shit for his comment about Xbox players who didn't want an always online requirement?
This was always the case though and many of the people complaining even mentioned it, so they’re not exactly worried they’re just oddly talking into the wind for no good reason. They're worried.
