Ya know, if more people supported their Patreon, they'd be able to output more panels per week (as explained in their funding goal section). Surely that's a better solution than just ragequitting.
There's a slower pace, and then there's tap dancing off for ten minutes off a two foot stage stage dude...This panel is pretty much just wasted space.

Also, going by the responses here, you're sorta in the minority of people that like this...so maybe quit saying people need to learn their art?

You know, folks, if you think they're doing a bad job why don't you just go and make your own webcomic with blackjack and hookers the pacing you think is right.

Personally, I find watching a man's desperate, dying struggle to survive or at least take his enemy with him as his life slips away and the cold embrace of death reaches ever closer is really engaging (and I just realized how creepy that sounds).

The only reason this feels slow is because it's being updated page by page... Or well really half a page. If this were to say be published like a regular comic as monthly than no would complain. It's completely normal for most comics to spend several pages focusing on just one fight, or have an entire page dedicated to say... The Green Goblin charging towards someone. Heck, in Watchmen they spend numerous pages just on a comic that... only sort of ties in with the rest of it.

This. I'm enjoying the series so far regardless of the pacing.

It shows the struggle of Gunny trying to fight rather than just die ... I mean, he got stabbed in a vital spot ... and yet, he's fighting off the alien. I kinda feel this strip is showing Gunny isn't all talk while 'looking' macho.
Well yeah, but half of the panels in this one aren't really needed for that effect, not to mention they've already covered him being more than just talk and an Eddie Izzard flag joke with him appearing again when they needed him there.

I don't quite get what's going on in the two small panels. #5 and #6.

Gunny elbows him, then... in #5 the alien starts breathing fire? Is that supposed to be blood?
It's blood, as in the last panel you can see blood on the alien's nose.

Then in #6 he... extra stabs him?
Pretty much. Looks like he's just jamming the "blade" in harder/"twisting the knife". Or maybe he's just making sure those side-beams we see in the previous comic are getting in there too.

*shrug* this pacing is nothing I can't deal with. I'm a fan of bleach, for christ's sake.

I'm looking forward to seeing the payoff to the one-liner.

If you're a manga reader like I am, this is nothing in comparison lol. I do feel where you're coming from though, simply because you do have to wait a week before the next strip comes out ... but at the same time, we get to view these for free.

Heck despite I try to tribute to my favorite authors / illustrators in some way, I view most of their content for free while supporting them by another means. Art takes time, and perhaps this was a "serious" strip which is why the panels are focused on this one struggle rather then skipping ahead. It's to show how strong willed Gunny is, and his development as a character physically & mentally.

But next week, we should be seeing some progress no doubt.
Yeah, but like someone else already said, you normally get more than half a page even when you're reading chapter by chapter. And as much as I like alot of manga, outside of action-centric ones, you get more out of a page than this one. And even in those I get annoyed at how much space is being wasted sometimes because there's nothing being shown that they've shown in less panels.

But this series has mostly just been lukewarm to me, not a huge amount has happened in 40 strips so far.

...if you only care about plot in your webcomics, yes.

"The majority don't like it, so shame on you for enjoying it and wanting it to stay this way"?

Puh-leeeeeeeeeeeze. That's like saying "The only music that should ever be played on public radio is Top-40 stuff."

Don't see why everyone is complaining... this isn't a waste at all. There are a couple things being shown here: 1) Gunny is a tough SOB not just a guy in tough armour and 2) passage of time; this isn't just stab->dead but a prolonged struggle. Both points setting up what happens next.

If you're going to complain, then at least wait to see the pay-off.

Seriously this comic has had plenty of good character building and action so far, stop worrying about where the arc will end and just enjoy the ride.

Dude...you told people the exact same thing except with the justification of implying they don't know "real art"...

Not to mention I never told you to shut up about liking it, just that you probably shouldn't be telling people they don't know better and they should shut up about not liking it.

Then we come to the webcomic part, in a plot-driven one, yes, I do, in fact, prefer there to be plot as opposed to a rehash of traits we already know about the guy, or at the very least, less panels devoted to it. Half of the panels in this page could honestly just be taken out and the same idea can be given across just as easily. The guy is NOT!MasterChief, anyone that's picked up a controller in the last fifteen years already knows the basic traits of the character. It's not needed, it doesn't explore the archetype more, it doesn't expand on it, it doesn't parody it, it brings nothing that hasn't already been covered in the comic. That's why I don't really care for it.
