The real question here is who thought the bonsai tree was already like that when it was sent in the first place?

I'm not sure, but I'd imagine they were just being silly.

As was the person asking about the thoughts of others...

Which is likely what prompted a similarly silly answer to that question.

Or the unspoken questioning of how long it takes a bonsei tree to grow over time...

I'm going with this option.

Erin, in her slumber, heard the knock at the door, and is dreaming that Rad is up and about. When Rad said "Hello", that was actually Erin speaking (while asleep).
Note that the person behind the door said "Your voice sounds weird", and not "YOU'RE NOT ERIN!!". Because it *was* Erin herself speaking, but she was putting on a 'Rad-sounding' voice.

(I'm probably wayyy overthinking this.)

That's the thing I've actually been wondering about. According to the 2nd comic in the series, she's been shut-in for 2 years...where's she getting the money necessary for games and a pot addiction? She explains to Rad that she never needs to leave the house because pretty much anything can be bought online, including her massive collection of games. So she's either already retired with all the money she could ever need, someone's essentially enabling her by paying for everything in her stead, or she is, in fact, already dead and this comic is Erin's limbo/purgatory/what-have-you.

I suppose should could be working from home...but from the sound of things all she did before Rad showed up was smoke pot and watch professional wrestling all day. If that's a job you can get paid for...sign me up! :3

She and her spouse/fiance/whatever were in a terrible accident with a large company at-fault, killing her whatever and leaving her in a deep depression living off of a massive settlement for the rest of her life, until she dies alone.

Well, from the previous chapter; you can see Gunny crushing the Timtam cartons under his weight, and rad dragging the sheet across the corridor and then covering Erin with it....
they seem to have a feasible corporal presence, and aren't illusions or hallucinations.

I do have a theory that:

Erin is a videogame character herself, and that she lives in a videogame of her own.

But at this point, I find that it's too early to speculate about this.. In all cases I speak for myself and most probably most people here when I say we're here for the ride, not the twist ( or the lack of ).

well you see some bonsai seeds got posted to Erin when one of her relatives visited asia(thought a pet plant may be helpful too her) said seeds have since flourished in the impromptu compost heap that is her mail pile

Either way, I came into this comic for the funnies, so it's pretty jarring to be reminded about the fact that Erin has loved ones on the other side of that door. Feel the feels.

I think we might be in a sort of Calvin & Hobbes situation, where it's not really clear where fantasy ends and reality begins, or if there's even any difference in the end.
