What gets me is Erin's optimism has manifested as a TV advert character used to sell breakfast cereals. The kind that appeals to four year olds. Not a character from a novel, film or TV drama with more depth that Erin would have discovered later in her childhood. Erin's optimism had to go back past adolescent and pre-teen memories and into early memories to find an optimistic avatar. That's a messed up childhood.
