Makes me glad I'm pretty much Gunny's polar opposite when backseat gaming is the order of the day. Gives me the chance to actually watch the game's mechanics unfold or nitpick at the graphics or the lore or, well, whatever works depending on the game.
However, when I have more of a hang on certain mechanics than my friends, a part of me has to bite down really hard on the urge to tell them what to do. Fallout 4's settlement mechanics were pretty irritating in that respect.
Friend: "Urgggh, Bugthesda can't code a tutorial to save their lives! WHAT DO I DO?!!!"
Me: "Look at the Workshop interface. It's all there."
*fifteen minutes later*
Friend: "HOW DO I ASSIGN PEOPLE TO RESOURCES?! OHMIGOD, JANKY GAME DESIGN!"
Me: *stealth facepalm* "Bottom of the interface. Point at a settler. Hit E to Command. Hit E while pointing at what you want them to take care of."
