It would also aid in accuracy since you could keeping the bow steady while fully drawn and rate of fire in that you could pull the heavy weight faster.
In DnD 3rd edition (and possibly later), Strength could be factored in with Composite bows. While Dexterity was still used to actually hit someone, a composite weapon had a strength rating that, if you could match it, would let you apply some of your strength as well. Or something like that. I normally play casters, so I'm a little rusty on the archery rules.
