It sounds like people have pre-ordered it for release day, but when it's not arrived at their house early enough in the day, they've gone out and bought a copy from a store.

I'm another 1 of the 1s that doesn't have it. Sorely tempted to buy a console for it though...
So they Rockstar was rewarded for failing to deliver the preordered games on time (thus defeating the point of preordering, which was stupid to begin with) by selling hundreds of millions of extra game copies?

Please excuse me while I go vomit.

These people shouldn't be allowed around money ever again. As someone who waits years to buy games this doesn't compute with me whatsoever. All I can say is I hope these people learn from their lesson and never preorder a game ever again.
I doubt the pre-orders were from Rockstar, as I don't think they have a store. People pre-ordered the game for home delivery from places like Amazon, or Best Buy, or any number of other retailers. The retailer probably didn't ship it out until release day, meaning the people who ordered it would have to wait a day or two for the postal service. So Rockstar didn't fail in anything.

Though I will agree with the disgust regarding people shelling out for another copy of the game because they can't wait. Pretty sad statement on our consumer culture really.

Well, I do have two copies of GTAV, but I ordered one. The store made a mistake. Still thinking whether I should send it back or not. :D

Am I the only one who thinks this is kinda sad? I mean shelling out twice for the same product out of impatience is... I dunno, saying something bad about consumer mentality or whatever.
And what makes you sure it's out of impatience?

Let's back up, how did they come up with this statistic in the first place?

I swear, you people will believe everything when you see it on the Escapist, you never seem to stop and think "wait, how could anyone possibly know this for a fact?"

Again, you are taking a statement that has no factual basis and using it as a platform to complain about how horrible everything is.

It's still the fastest selling, not sure why a few people having more than one copy would make that less legitimate in your mind. Not sure why being the fastest selling product means anything to you in the first place.

Consumers have not become incredibly stupid and gullible, you have.
Wow. Classy. A personal attack from someone I don't know nor have ever talked to, or about, before?

Did I strike a nerve? Did I offend you in some way?

Have I said GTA5 is a bad game? Did I say it wasn't deserving of the praise and admiration it's received?

*reads previous post*

Nope! I didn't. Not even a mere whiff of such things.

So then it begs questioning: why have you taken such offense to my statements? All I said was a company touting a thing as "great" because it's the fastest selling whatever in whenever means absolutely nothing to me.

And yes, one in seven of every GTA5 owner having two copies kinda sorta really eschews those sales figures.

Just saying...

Unless the poll is a lie, then that's where the statistic came from. Knowing a lot about consumers and how stupid/spend happy a lot of them are? I don't doubt it for a second.

Isn't one copy per person enough? I can't see a proper reason to have multiple copy's of it honestly.

You ****s. **** you right in the ****-hole you ******* ****s.

Are my sentiments toward this.

There's not a copy of it left in Yorkshire! Amazon even seem to be getting in on the racket.

Heh, PS3. If you live in the Netherlands, then sure. I can't be bothered to send internationally. :p

It was probably more down to the couriers than Rockstar.

What I'm picturing is, people having their delivery arrive in early afternoon, but because it's not there by 9am, they've gone and bought a copy at a store.

Oh and 0/2. In fact I've never owned a GTA game. I find the series somewhat retarded.
A preorder arrives at best on launch date, during the day. Midnight release is faster. Still a stupid mentality though.

OT: Yeah, put me down for one of those waiting for it on PC. Getting seriously annoyed with Rockstar for the whole anti-PC thing, wish they'd get over the piracy (or the excuse of it, whichever).

I only did this once. Portal 2. In my defence my physical copy took a week to arrive despite assurances that I would have it on release day. Got impatient after 3 days and bought it on Steam as well. Gotta love them instant digital distributions. At least Valve is a company I don't mind giving extra money to.

I only have one copy. But when it comes out on PC I'll probably get a second copy. I'm also thinking of trading my PS3 copy in and getting a PS4 copy when it comes out on PS4.

But yeah, buying a second copy because you pre-ordered it online are are too impatient to wait for it to arrive is stupid. This is why we can't have nice things.

I have one copy and despite owning it for a week I haven't finished it. I guess I'm just not impatient enough to be in that group.

What's the problem? People purchase multiples of something with the intent to resell for profit all the time. Why should gaming be immune to this?

I ended up buying two copies of GTA IV.

I preordered it, and when Amazon failed to get it to me on time I went into town and picked up a copy. Then when the copy from Amazon finally arrived a week later I just returned it for a refund.

After that bullshit I just went to the midnight launch for GTA V instead of trusting an incompetent delivery service to get me my product on time.

What's the point of laying a preorder if you're just going to buy it physically anyways?

Do they just play one version of the game and leave the other unopened in case it becomes a collectors item in 200 years time?

I bought the PS3 version at a GameStop midnight release and I plan on getting a PC version when the PC release comes out. I don't really see what the big deal is with people buying two copies. It's their money, if they want to purchase two copies of a game they are free to do so.
